That's how it works...when an active transmission is in progress, the amp is on...as it should be so you can hear it. When their's no transmissions, you can set the timer as to when the amp goes off to alleviate the "hum" or "scanner noise". I have mine set also at 100 milliseconds but never had an issue with loud humming. Maybe someone here who has uploaded the firmware and installed the part can tell everyone here if it's completely eliminated.

I installed the part and the firmware and you can still hear the hum when the frequency opens up until the close of it slightly. It's still a bit noticeable.

Bug - Sentinel conv. system departments are not showing the new filter options "Wide Normal", "Wide Invert" and "Wide Auto". The scanner conv. system departments are showing them.

{edit{ Nevermind. Now the new filters are showing.
Hi I'm having the same issue how do we apply filters to the conventional systems? No problem on my EDACS, DMR,
and Phase II.

Make sure you have Sentinel 2.02.01
Click a Department node then click the Options tab on the right side. You shall see the Filter option.

I do have that version that's how I got to do the firmware update, I guess it's because I'm trying to do it on the unit like the other systems. Thanks for the info I will give that a shot when I get home.

WOW thank you
at first glance I added Wide Normal to one of my towers that I have not even had The SDS200 decode the control channel as yet.

Mt Alexander on the Regional Mobile Radio Network in Victoria.
VHF P25

Attached images of be four Noise @ 32003 no filter No CC decode avoided as it wouldn't receive
SDS200-Alexander (1).png

and after noise @ 696 a huge improvement Filter set to Wide Normal
Capture.PNG

Still no luck with towers that are a little further away Mt Alexander is only 42KM - 26 Mile
Many Thanks

Congratulations..it's working well. Change the settings around a bit to meet your preference.

I agree. And I'm on newest firmware, BUT, I must say analog VHF & UHF is quite annoying when using the SDS200 or SDS100 while mobile and slightly out of range compared to all my other scanners. I'm talking when analog is about -90dBm rssi, the static & crackling & voice is so overwhelming and prominent that I refuse to use these as mobile devices. It's like the treble is set too high for analog. I've complained about this before, but don't expect Uniden will do anything about it. The higher treble settings for digital are very welcomed instead of the muffled sound the older models had, but it's killing me with analog. I recently drove to work, 25 miles away from my local analog sites, and it's so hard on the ears compared to my 996p2 in the car. I'm just sticking with the 996p2 for analog and have the SDS100 (or my Unications) for digital in the car. Wish I could just have the SDS200 in car, but can't deal with the analog sound.
I want to add that these are so great when used stationary at home as base scanners. Love them in that scenario! Not a single complaint.

Thank you, Paul and team, for listening to feedback and continuing to improve the product.

Analog crackle does seem to be a bit better from my testing but still has a lot of room for improvement.

The new global audio filters are are a great addition, audio seems better on FM broadcast however I'm still getting consistent dropouts on strong (-30dBm) stations. Any way to fix this or will it be addressed in a future firmware update?

Also is there a quick / function key to switch global audio filter modes without digging deep into the menu?

I still get the 'splatter' from a couple nearby towers a few miles away on VHF.. What I mean by that is, when they transmit, they drown out any other signal within the 150-170mhz range and I can also hear them on multiple other frequencies...Just wondering if there's anything firmware-related that could be done for that issue instead of just turning on the attenuator ? Thanks -- edit: The filters have minimal effect on any setting I try

I am running main v1.08.05 and sub v1.02.01 firmware on my SDS200. I just discovered that the daylight saving setting has no effect on the displayed time.

It shouldn't have as daylight savings are only active during summer time?

Correct. Daylight Savings Time in the US starts at 2:00am tomorrow morning - 3/10/2019

I can't wait to get my 100 back from Uniden repair to try these out! They gave me an estimated time of return of 3/19/19. I received their email confirmation of arrival of my unit on 2/19/19.

I followed the instructions and my SDS200 will not acknowledge the new update. My SDS100 did with no problem at all. I updated the Sentinel software and followed the same un-mounting procedures to start the firmware. I even had to clear the data from Sentinel to download a fresh firmware but still stuck on 1.07.04 main - 1.02.01 Sub every time. Need some help guys!!

Read the directions on the screen when you do firmware updates.
The SDS100 and SDS200 procedures are slightly different.

On the SDS200 you merely unplug the USB cable from the scanner end and the
update will start. Also -- the SDS200 update is in 2 parts, there is the "Main" followed by the "Sub". They get updated separately.
Do not turn the power off during the updates. There is a very brief pause between finishing the Main and starting the Sub.
But, you really do not need to turn the power off at all because after the update the scanner will reboot and automatically
come up according to your settings in the Profile.

But, the scanner has a clock, right? And the very first thing you have to do out of the box is to set the time and the date.
The scanner "knows" when DST takes effect. Just leave the parameter set to ON or Yes and when the proper time comes
for activation the scanner will update the time of day automatically. At least that is how I understand it.

I guess we shall all find out TONIGHT !!!!!! :)

I had the same problem with one of my SDS200 scanners. When I tried to update the firmware, Sentinel indicated that I had the latest version even though it showed the old version in the menu. I reformatted the SD card and then cleared the user data, but the problem still existed. It wasn't until I tried a new SD card that the scanner would update.

The setting to turn DST on/off is for those areas which do not observe DST time changes...if they don't, turn it off. Do? Make sure it's 'on'.

This symptom can be caused by a corrupted or bad micro SD card. You can try the following with existing card:

1. Plug in the Micro USB Cord to your computer.
2. Bring up Sentinel
3. Run Scanner->Clear User Data. This erases all your data an initializes the card.
4. Update Firmware
5. Write your Profile/Favorite List to the scanner.
6. Unmount scanner.
7. Unplug scanner and let it reboot.

The Master Database is not deleted in step 3, so you don't need to download it to the scanner.

If this doesn't work, try a new card.

Good luck.
