I am running main v1.08.05 and sub v1.02.01 firmware on my SDS200. I just discovered that the daylight saving setting has no effect on the displayed time.
Of course not it only occurs twice a year. Spring and Fall. Tonight is the time to jump forward for Spring. So after 2AM it will change the time.

Just posted firmware for the SDS100 and SDS200, plus a new version of Sentinel that includes the functions added by the update. As usual for public releases, these updates are applied using Sentinel.

1.02.01 Sub / 1.08.05 Main (3/7/2019)
Be sure to also update Sentinel when applying this update.
This firmware update applies the following new settings and bug fixes:

  • Added an "AMP OFF Timer" setting that determines how long the amplifier stays on after a transmission ends. If you hear hum between transmissions, change this from Infinite to one of the available settings.
  • Added "Wide Normal", "Wide Invert" and "Wide Auto" filter options for FM performance improvement. When you pick this setting, the filter becomes weaker for interference on a nearby frequency. However, the linearity of the IF can be maintained even when there is strong interference within the band, and the reception may be improved in some cases.
  • Added an option to display the filter setting when customizing the display.
  • Improved a reception dropout issue where dropouts are often accompanied by "LINK" icon appearing at start of dropout.
  • Improved crackling noise on analog.
  • Improved the reports that some REC files created have no audio captured at replay.
  • Added a prompt to exit certain modes.
When I try to load the SDS200 firmware

1.02.01 Sub / 1.08.05 Main (3/7/2019)

I get the following;

“BCDx36HP Sentinel”

A red circle with an X in it and the following message;

Updating unit failed. Operation is canceled.

The remote name could not be resolved: ‘ftp.homepatrol.com

The Sentinel software has been updated, the SDS200 has been chosen, and Sentinel updated my SDS100 with the same firmware without problems. What am I needing to do to correct this?

I had the same issue yesterday afternoon/evening. Accessing the Uniden Server was like I was on a 1200 baud dial-up line. My internet connectivity was fine with other sites/downloads. I was successful later in the evening and was able to update my 100 and 200s. Wait a while and try again.

Anyone else experiencing same/similar?

Attempting to change a P25 system Modulation type via Sentinel and that option is not available. Pressing Channel Hold/Function 9 key "Mod" on SDS200 briefly shows and allows the change to be made.

MotoTRBO and NXDN Trunking system option is available at the Site level Via Sentinel. Maybe next update include modulation changes for P25 systems?

Was able to do this via ARC software on all systems.

I ran into the slowness yesterday when I went after the new Sentinel update but got the SDS100 firmware updated. And I experienced the slowness again this morning at 8:30 EST but that shouldn’t be due to heavy usage. They must have other issues. I suspect this is not why I am having trouble but I’ll give it another try now-let you know how I do...

Yup the same for me yesterday. Took about 30 minutes for the sentinel download.

There hasn't been a P25 modulation selection in Sentinel or from the BCD536s menu system since I started using them two and half years ago.
Maybe the bandplans default modulation are the correct one to use, at least in North America?

I have to say this update is great! I thought my 100 was doing fine before but the filters have turned it into a new radio. I have been unable to pick up a system in the next county to to interference and just having the filter set to normal it is now 5x5. Activity has markedly increased in my home county as well. I can't wait to tweak my systems.

Currently trying it out in FM mode on a P25 simulcast system and experimenting with the filters. Channel Hold..Function and Mod will appear briefly on screen is how I did it. No bandplan change needed, can be done at Site level.

On 536hp...Channel Hold...Function... press Channel again will change modulation.

I updated the firmware today. As I don't have the hum problem, the only thing I was really interested in was the crackling on analog UHF and VHF. After the update, there is some improvement on weaker signals in that they are more readable with less background noise.

What is the step by step procedure to update the firmware on the SDS100? I believe it is different for the SDS200. Thanks

It is identical but make sure that you have the 100 as your target, not the 200.
