The zip code feature is a good way to get started. But you'll likely want to refine what you scan as you get more familiar with it.

A radio shack pro-95. I also own a yaesu ft-60 which i use sometimes as a scanner. Wondering if the zip code feature works good or is it still necessary to program it.

I see we're close in proximity. I'm by Midway Airport and you probably know Oak Lawn Central will be migrating Net-10 departments to Starcom soon, so the SDS 100 is a good choice as Site-1002 and Site 1-030 are simulcast. I have alot of files which might interest you, so if you need any help send me a message.

min my experience thus far, it can be as easy as that or very complex. It’s certainly not your typical scanner of yester year

Definitely not the scanners from back in the day. I have a few friends who purchased the SDS 100 on my recommendation and I usually have a 2-3 hour in-person tutorial once I set it up for them. After that it's by phone...lol!

Its function hasn't beeen officially announced, but it's connected into the SDR subsystem.
Would be nice if they could make into a "discriminator tap" and come out with an SDR type of program for both the 100 &200. Don't know if it's even fesible though.

That's likely exactly what it does, but the software hasn't been released yet.

All my antennas are BNC. BYYG1687001, Does this adapter look good on the radio or should I just change to SMA antenna?

Any SMA antenna suggestions?

I sell a BNC adapter in the classifieds. BNC is preferable if you switch antennas periodically.

I can vouch for jonwienke's bnc/sma adapter. I use a Remtronix 800mhz rubber duck and it works great with it and is a very good fit to the radio. I wish it were silver, but the gold is still very easy on the eyes. He does a good job!
