I just purchased a Uniden SDS150. This is all new to me and would appreciate any advice. My main concern is after I purchased it I found out that the police, sheriff etc.. is encrypted in Mobile, AL. Is there anyone familiar with using a scanner in Mobile? Will I not be able to hear any of the police calls? This was the main reason I purchased it. I haven't opened the box yet after I found this out. ( I know I should have done this prior to purchase but never dreamed I wouldn't be able to listen to the police calls). Thanks in advance for any information you can offer.

This is what's shown in the database for the Mobile county system. De is part time encryption.

If they are encrypted? No.

There's other things to listen to, but if the agencies you want to hear are all encrypted and you have no other desire to listen to others, send it back. There is no way around encryption.

I think if you take a look at the info in post #2, you'll find that very little is encrypted in Mobile County. Happy scanning.

I monitor the MCCD regularly from here in Fairhope and can confirm that whilst some TG's are E, many things are in the clear. both city and county. Wish I could say the same thing about my hometown.
