For those in the Hardy Co area, it looks like things are progressing regarding a new site in Lost City. From the various SIRN minutes I have been tracking progress. A tower fund grant was approved in early 2022 or late 2021. A site was going to be put up in Mathias, but this was changed to lost city. SIRN minutes between April 2023 and now make no significant mention of this site. But between January 2022 and March 23 the SIRN minutes discussed it. Certain equipment was ordered. Tower steel was ordered. Various different things.

At any rate, fast forward to a microwave license that is pending -- for WQYN464 and ULS Application - Microwave Public Safety Pool - 0010820617 - Hardy County OEM/E911 - Locations Summary , adding a microwave link to a new site location in Hardy Co. Google Maps shows an empty field, but Google images rarely is up to date. There is no FCC registration for a tower (yet). But there might not be since it's only going to be a 180' tower.

Anyway, the likely Lost City tower site location would be here

In reading through two years of minutes, there are actually a handful of new sites proposed but not online yet. This just happens to be one of them.

Good to see you back. I not aware of a Hinton Site..
Mike published a permit for it a year ago or so...I was close so dropped in to see the site. There is a small tower and building, not sure what is in there but not likely SIRN. Been watching the meeting notes you sent. they do mention it several times but nothing has been done.

I'm guessing there won't be anything more done until spring. I don't know about Hinton in general, but WV in the wintertime no matter where the tower is would like present some challenges!

Happy New Year Deac! Glad to see you back :)

Looking for input on what SDR softwares are out there that are good for SIRN use. I have Fastlane, but recently switched to SDR Trunk. I really like SDR Trunk it’s a great program but I can’t seem to work to kinks out for it to work on a simulcast cell. So I am looking for what other softwares are out there that work good with SIRN Simulcast. Thanks

SDRTrunk works fabulously on simulcast cells. You need to make sure and use LSM (and not C4FM) for Simulcast cells.

From the SIEC Minutes --

January Minutes --

Clay, Hardy, Jefferson and Putnam have ordered Motorola site equipment and Aviat
Microwave.

February Minutes --

State Police Romney and Charles Town are going to split
their dispatch talkgroups to allow the Martinsburg/Charles Town area to be on a talkgroup
of their own. As Romney is a Direct Connect console, this should allow smaller site
profiles of each talkgroup and result in less towers lighting unnecessarily.

No idea. But they are always adding talkgroups to the system for some entity. Quite a few mentions of new talkgroups being added in just the Feb/Mar SIEC minutes alone.

Should read through the SIEC minutes.
