Hmm doesn't sound like hardware to me if you can decode analog conventional P25.

It sounds like a trunking table / bandplan issue. With the wrong bandplan, the control channel will be able to tell that a talkgroup is active and will attempt to switch to the voice channel, but you won't get any audio on the voice channel because it will have switched to the wrong frequency.

1. P25 AUTO
2. Trunking Tables : Default
3. Make sure you have a Group Wildcard (and that it isn't locked out)
4. Make sure the scanlist associated with the TSYS is active

In Win500 the trunking tables will look like this:

Code:
00 0 4095 0 851.006250 6.250
01 4096 8191 4096 762.006250 6.250
02 8192 12287 8192 453.025000 12.500
03 12288 16383 12288 450.000000 6.250

See attached screenshot from Win500 (it was a .P500 config file from a buddy's scanner, and he doesn't like Belmont Co because they encrypt so his descriptions of Belmont stuff are littered with profanity :)

Maybe it was patched in because I was still picking them up. I just received news that FD will be moving this week possibly too.

Pocahantas County and Durbin

Hello,

I'm a frequent traveler to Elkins, WV. Recently I was rebuilding my FL for my 436 and expanding to sites surrounding Randolph County. I noticed that while there are talk groups for Pocahontas County on SIRN I see no sites listed for that county. Is the database missing some data or am misinterpreting something.

In the fall I will be staying near Durbin for a few days. I am a ham and would like to bring my HT. Any recommendations for 2M, 1.25 M or 70 CM repeaters that cover the route of the Durban and Greenbrier Railroad? I see possibilities using RFinder but since this is in the National Quiet Zone I thought there might be some coverage issues. If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,
Rick - KR3LC

You're right that there are no sites active in Pocahontas Co, at least none that have been reported to us or that have been FCC licensed.

Wares Ridge / Valley Head up in Randolph Co is the closest. It may be online, but if it is nobody has told us about is so that we could include it in the DB.

Maybe there are no sites there because of quiet zone restrictions? Then again, other counties with quiet zone restrictions do have sites online. Not sure why there is nothing in Pocahontas Co.

Mike

PS: SIRN does have some microwave sites in Pocahontas, on Sharps Knob and Snowshoe. Whether or not there will be active radio sites at those locations remains to be seen.

for those that Monitor wheeling,
City operations ( Maintenance ) and OVRTA ( public transit , Yours truly works there ) I have received conformation that they will be remaining on the old Wheeling system for an unknown amount of time. I'm disappointed cause I was looking forward to new radios to play with :) anyhow just thought I would let you all know that info.

Thanks D for this confirmation... I have been wondering!

Yea if I was a betting man I would guess that since ovrta, operations, water dept, and sanitation are the only groups left on the system that they would either move these groups to SIRN or possibly to the Staley trunk system (whichever would bring in more money for staleys) because it would be cost prohibitive to keep the old 800 system operational for so few users... (again staleys sure knows how to work over wheeling/ohio county so who knows).....

Well ,

For OVRTA anyway the big fight is who is gonna pay for the equipment for EORTA , remember Eorta and Ovrta are two different companies run by one entity. Ovrta being the WV company and Eorta being the OH company. It's all over money as usual . I suggested to the CEO that we get on Staley's triconnex system. They offer everything he wants ( Real time GPS tracking , man down button ) and private calls would be awesome to have, But again its about money.

I don't see the old system being used very long due to cost, but we shall see

I tell ya Wheeling/Staleys should have done a little more testing before they went live ... Dispatch cant hear the tac channels that the companies are calling them on and the squad #2 just tried to call the hospital on sirn tg 9999 instead of 9997 (the correct one) .... S-2 finally gave up and changed back to the 800 and called the hospital from it (which worked) but man.... get the bugs out b4 u have peoples lives on the line i noted that 9999 is not listed in the db but they were definitely using it.....
