Yes I did as well. I wonder why they felt the need to go that route? Here is what it says from SIRN

It was reported that Wood County is moving to encrypt the county legacy P25 to DES
encryption.
• RC Faulk will monitor the usage of 911 talkgroups for dispatch purposes for day-to-day
operations which is not what they were designed.

I wonder will Wood County be out of compliance with SIRN if they do go that route as it looks like SIRN will be monitoring Wood County to see how it goes and why they went that route as well.
Very Interesting....

There's a seperate thread about Wood County with a press release from the Sheriff's Office that explains what is going on.

The monitoring of the 911 talk groups is a separate item and may have nothing to do with Wood County sheriff. There may be other agencies in the state misusing those talk groups, which take up a lot of resources because they transmit statewide. Each county is supposed to have separate dispatch talk groups which are more local in nature.

Need some people in Marion / Harrison Co to do some investigative work.

10137 MarCo RsSqPv Rescue Squad Private

This was in the Marion Co section of the DB. However, Marion Co Rescue Squad already has their own talkgrup in the Marion Co range.

All other 10xxx talkgroups in the DB are Harrison Co talkgroups.

There were two WVSIRN forum posts referencing 10137 -- one mentioning it was heard while in Harrison Co, and the other mentioning that it sounded like a bunch of people having fun and sounded like they were wasted.

So I removed this talkgroup completely -- not just from Marion Co.

If you're inclined and within Marion/Harrison counties, program it in your scanner (or keep it programmed in if it is already there) and see if you can determine the real user of TG 10137

Thanks!

I would be surprised if there isn't a site in/around Hillsboro, WV. Every time I look at a Site map, I always see that big hole where.

I've been waiting on this one....
My river camp is near the site listed.
The SIRN meeting notes for September imply the site is not complete
I did scan these frequencies from home but no copy
I'll keep an eye on it though :)

I don't think this is a 250' tower as listed on the location summary.
Note the survey stakes in the photo... Planning for something new at this site, possibly second tower.

The tower there currently is only 108 foot. ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - KIU666 - SUMMERS, COUNTY OF (fcc.gov). According to the FCC's website the application for Bluefield Transit Authority was granted on 11/15. ULS Application - Industrial/Business Pool, Trunked - 0010248831 - BLUEFIELD AREA TRANSIT AUTHORITY (fcc.gov). So hopefully it won't be long before construction begins on the new tower.

That's why I said "new 250' tower being built / already built" -- I didn't know if it had been built yet or not.

Nice pictures, Deac!

That tower does not meet R56 specs for sure, and will need a new shelter, backup generator, etc. for SIRN. $500K - $1M depending on the site. Looks like survey stakes in the ground....
