Sounds like a definite switch over soon to me, especially since WVSP in Beckley use the SIRN already.

Plus the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department switched over in June, the only ones I don't see switching is the smaller municipalities with 2 or 3 officers that cant afford to switch.

Ah yes, but that is what federal grant money is for......Trust me they won't be far behind Beckley PD's switch-over.

The system has worked great for Raleigh county so far, almost all of the fire departments have switched over but there are a few who refuses to switch. The ambulance service I worked for has been pushing to get a grant to where they can start to switch over also.

The remainder will eventually switch or be forced to comply with FCC narrow banding requirements.
Alot will depend on who owns the FCC license. Its nice to keep conventional VHF only as a backup only to the SIRN. The SIRN system has far too many benefits for emergency services and they need to get rid of the antiquated thinking of not going to the dark side...LOL

"I think" I heard that the "Federal Grant" has expired. As for conventional frequencies, I can't see it as being smart to trust SIRN without backup. The State Police are multi-frequency users and that makes sense to me.

It is now confirmed that Beckley PD is switching to SIRN. I was told by one of their Lieutenants today that they received a grant for $52,000 to switch to SIRN and do a few other things. They are planning to switch to SIRN on January 1st. Beckley FD is also planning on making the switch on January 1st as well.

Grants are still available. One reason the WVSP maintain mutifreq radios is because lack of 55 county SIRN coverage. Trunking if run and maintained correctly works great. Back in 2002, I was a "doubting thomas" on the whole WVIRP project. But after 10 years being a SIRN, STAR and other P25 trunking systems user my mind is definitely changed.

Well I found a new site today. It has the frequencies of the Portable Site but it came up on site 2-32. A full 99% into the Pro96com here in Charleston. Also showing 2-001,2-002, and 2-003 as neighbors. Who knows?

They talk about everyday during, going to work and leaving work, just like the Postal Inspectors.

Federal Interoperability

By Google search ----Federal Interoperability Field Guide Download NIFOG v.1.5 January 2014
Pg. 36 (UHF Law Enforcement (LE) Federal Interoperability Channels
Calling LEB frequency 414.0375 Analog and a PL of 167.9 (Missing in R.R. database)
How did I find that? I was just checking if I had all those (Federal Interoperability Frequencies) Seen I had all but this one, then checked R.R. Database and seen it missing. I also downloaded NIFOG 2008 and it confirmed the missing frequency.
