Being new to scanning, the question I have is probably simple:

For both conventional and trunked:

What is the definition of a system?
What is the definition of a site?
What is the definition of a group?
What is the definition of a department?
What is the definition of a channel?

How are they physically related?

Please give examples.

Actually you would be better off reading the excellent Easier to Read manuals. Which scanner(s) are you using - I suspect you are using one of the 436HP, 536HP or the SDS models (since you asked about departments)?
