I don't doubt that some radios were stolen but the majority of interference is coming from someone who is most likely using mobile power and keying down the whole time on Citywide 1. Some idiot who probably doesn't have a cause of any kind and just wants to exert some power to feel some power.

You will occasionally hear an unprofessional officer expressing grief toward protestors but not to the extent as I stated above.

Anyone else noticed that central now refers to CItywide-1 as citywide-A and CItywide-2 as CItywide-B
Yes, however I think that they are referred to that just on their end, because all the radios are programmed showing CW 1 and CW 2, even the new ones.

I wonder what groups like blm and others that want to de-fund the police think about the whole department going encrypted.

I doubt they care very much. On the news this morning they showed a cop in Buffalo shoving a 75-year old guy to the ground. Earlier in the week they showed an NYPD officer shoving a young woman to the ground and it gave her a concussion. There is nothing that radio encryption can do to protect reckless officers that act in this way.

I would argue that RR should absolutely not remove the NYPD streams- especially with the current happenings, transparency is more important than ever, and will allow them to be held accountable.

I don't agree with the stolen radios, although it definitely gave me a chuckle last evening when some troll asked a cop "what are you wearing" and then began to play Breaking The Law by Judas Priest lol

They let him out? I thought he was locked up

They did. He's been up to his usual antics on GMRS in the Tri-State Area again.

I really wish someone in RR would take the feeds down temporarily. They have to know that people during these times are using them for ill-intent.

It's a fact that they are. A family member who is a cop found that Broadcastify was recently specifically mentioned for the purposes of subversion of law enforcement in an ANTIFA guide posted to Twitter. I tagged the RadioReference and Broadcastify Twitter handles in a reply to try and bring it to their attention.

When you have hundreds of videos of cops using excessive force I don't think anybody cares what is being said over a radio. We are way past that point.

Stolen radios are being stunned as they pop up. I'm sure there are probably a few baofengs being used out there.

Heard mention of a stolen radio today. Wonder how many are out there? Lots of traffic from Port Authority on CW1. Heard some MTA on CW also. What a difference a week made. Huge crowds ongoing but fairly peaceful.

A ridiculous amount of open carriers but most seem to be non malicious. Just user error. Not surprising really considering the huge amount of extra radios on the streets.

I think the stuck mic problem is an overabundance of speaker mics being used by the cops. They sometimes clip it on their gun belts, sit down somewhere, and the mic is keyed up.

Plus, a lot of them sound like crap anyway.
