Yep. They're using cache radios from SCC from the looks of the IDs. Warren PD Communications was using one of those cache radios interchangeably on 11 and Public Safety for a bit on Tuesday. Seemed like it was range testing in specific buildings, but one unit called out from Piscataway. Unsure why they're not testing with their own radios considering they have about 3 or 4 portables along with mobiles. Nothing wrong with asking nicely for a couple more to borrow- but you can get a good idea with your own equipment which will resemble a more day-to-day operation and conditions.

I get why they would switch due to everyone around them (except Watchung) but man their UHF repeater gets out nice.

Current warrant PD Transmit signal is great from on top of Mount Horeb Tower, but the Somerset county p25 system does not have enough infrastructure as far as satellite receivers to cover sufficient in building coverage throughout Warren township.

FWIW, the Watchung and Warren dispatchers do a good amount of back and forth as is, so it's not like one is missing the other's activity that much. Watchung PD has a decent amount of trunked radios, more than Warren. So, save for programming, they'd be able to communicate directly with Warren and beyond if Warren commits to the change. I'm sure the UHF mobiles would stay in Warren's cars if needed as well for backup/local usage.
