Hello,
Have a SDS 200. True beginner level with it.

Have a lot of it worked out, sorta, but I am obviously
not using Squelch correctly.

If I turn it to 0, it just sits on the FL without any scanning.
Obviously considers the noise as a legitimate signal.

If I turn it up to, e.g. 4, it resumes scanning.

But, any optimum Squelch setting is usually (very) different for the different FL's.

How do you folks handle this ?

And, once receiving a FL, how do I prevent it scanning to the next if I want to stay on it ? And, how to resume the scanning ?

Thanks, appreciate the help,

B.

What month is it?
Chiming in....

I have multiple 100s and 200s. And have had 436s before....
So, I'd say I have some experience with Uniden's analog/SDS radios.
All of mine have been set to 2 (squelch) and probably never changed - both mobile and stationary.
And, I do scan conventional freqs.

Of course, RF environments differ, which is the same thing with filters - they all depend on where you are at.
But, I'd bet most that will answer will say 2...
