That's weird... That means the computer does not see anything...
Did you try it in different ports?
If so... Could be the cable or the radio itself then... Maybe...
Any computer sounds like when you plug a usb device in?

I got two usb ports and they both work.
I got wireless mouse/keyboard in one and the SR30C charges in the other.
It recognizes my BC246t and BCD996XT but not The SR30.

Sounds like the radio's port or the cable or both might be pooched...

Did not see in the manual anything about putting the unit in a certain mode...

I asked him if he used software or programed it manually. I can't get it recognized.
Gotta wait for him to message me back.

Wait, so it *charges* from the USB port?

You have the scanner ON when you plug it in, right?

It could be the port on the scanner, but I think it's the cable. Some USB cables are charge-only and don't have the data lines connected. It could be that, or it could just be a bad cable. You can pick up a new one for $5-10. Just make sure it's a MINI USB, not MICRO.

So the SR30C uses the micro then... Any other cables you have that you can try?

Does the 996 use the 9 pin com port on the back?
If yes... Then not the same...
Just looked at a pict of the back of the 996...
