Cadet Class 133 will be reporting to District-Chicago and Oak Brook District 15 (Tollways) as of Monday. Expect to hear new voices, or see new Radio ID's on District-Chicago talkgroups if you follow them. Oak Brook usually stays with their current ID structure but the troopers will use "Car 300-Car 318 for example" and the ID's will be their "future" cars they will be assigned. You might see 15179, but the trooper will be using radio signature Car 300 as an example.

Emergency button activation training today for the District-Chicago Probationary troopers. They were using DC-A (TGID 9005) around noon. Each officer checked in after activation and I was able to log the new radio ID's, only missing two of ten. All are in the 1007200/1107200 series with the exception of one being in the 1006900/1106900 series (Probably a fast track cadet).

District 15 Probationary Troopers were checking in on their mobiles and using the "Car 300-319" radio call signs. As expected, mobile Radio ID's didn't match the Call sign ID's.

Something I've never heard before, District-Chicago is starting Probationary Troopers at C-320 and in the past they would start at C-300. I don't know if this anything to do with District 15 is using Car-300 to start the Probationary Troopers. Since 29 graduated, the number sequence would make sense. Just some useless information to ponder

The 'Chicago 2' TG is pretty active at the moment on Cook Co node Site 5-002 (Cook - South Simulcast). Also noticed that it's Phase II, and amazingly, not ENC.

Apologies if anyone has pointed this out already, but it looks like somewhere around the new year that the Glenview APERN talkgroup (3691) went encrypted along with a bunch of the operations talkgroups that were previously clear.

Cencom Round Lake area PD's were one of last hold out's in Central Lake county. Unknown why their officers were carrying dual band APX7000's years ago.

Anyone in central IL, specifically the Bureau County area, notice a problem picking up the STARCOM tower in Providence? Seems I can not pick it up as well as I used to. Been like that for about the last 10 days or so that I've noticed.

According to the DB, I have the correct freqs. It comes in sometimes. But my 996P2 is often telling me "Finding control channel". I know there was a problem with that radio on certain freqs, and I just updated firmware about a month or so ago. Thought I'd see if anyone else is having trouble. It's doing it on 3 radios, all with updated firmware.

Is anyone having some issues receiving activity through Site 1-002? I've noticed more decoding errors than usual regardless of whether I use my SDS100, 436HP, or even my Icom IC-R30. I can confirm that It's not an antenna issue since it still happens even if I'm listening without one within 1K yards of a tower. Also, my radios work fine if listening to other digital systems like the 800 MHz OEMC system or Digi-Talk.

In addition, I drive through southern Cook Co everyday and listen with my SDS100. Regardless of where I am, I have the issue with higher than usual errors.

A District 15 trooper mentioned yesterday that she was only receiving about 40% of the transmissions on a 10 mile stretch of the tollway. I've also noticed it too, but I also scan the DuPage site and it's receiving well, so no, it's not you.

Wondering how that trooper knew she was missing 60% of the transmissions if she wasn't hearing them.....:unsure::unsure:
