Yes, it's true, DE going to 700 MHz system.... some radios are being converted this week, rest of NCCo to soon follow, then Kent, then Sussex. The radios will be able to tx and rx on both the 700mhz system and the 800mhz system until the entire state is changed over, then the 800 mhz will be "turned off" so to speak, and the 700 mhz system will be utilized exclusively.
the more things change the more they stay the same.

73's

My wifes scanner went quite this week. It's not picking up anything. Is this the reason? I made the program a couple of years ago. Do I need to do it all over again?

If your wife's scanner is set to monitor Kent Co, the Site was rebanded this week. The Control and Voice Channels moved down 15 MHz. Simply reprogram the Site frequencies, and add Custom Rebanded Bandplan for the scanner she uses.

How do I do that? She has a Pro106 and I use Win500. I haven't used this program for two years and when I looked at it today, I don't see how I can change the frequency nor can I find the Custom Rebanded Bandplan.

Use Win500 or it can be added via Keyboard.
I haven't used this program for two years and when I looked at it today, I don't see how I can change the frequency nor can I find the Custom Rebanded Bandplan.
1. Download and install latest version of Win500 from Software for RadioShack PRO-series (PRO-92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 99, 163, 164, 106, 197) and GRE PSR-series (PSR-500, 600, 300, 400, 310, 410) scanners

2. Connect PRO 106 to PC using Interface Cable.

3. Open Win500. From the "Scanner" Dropdown Menu, Select "Download from Scanner"

4. Once you have downloaded what is in the scanner, select the TSYS Objects Tab. Highlight the TSYS Object you want to edit.

5. Click System Frequencies.

6. Edit the Frequencies.

7.Select "Trunking Tables". From the Dropdown Menu, Select "800 MHz Rebanded" The Table on the left will self populate with the bandplan. Click "OK" when done.

8. Below "Fleetmap" is the Trunking Tables Dropdown Menu. Select "CUSTOM".

Save the file. Upload to Scanner using the "Scanner" Dropdown Menu in Win500.

PLEASE refer to Screen Shots below!

Hello,

Most Law Enforcement in Kent County uses Encryption. The only Law Enforcement that doesn't use encryption in Kent Co is DSP KentCom, SusCom, and Milford PD. Dover PD has used encryption for many years. Smyrna PD is encrypted. No scanner will monitor these departments.

Also, if you don't hear Police, you may not have programmed the Talk Groups. Not FREQUENCIES! Talk Groups are necessary to MONITOR Trunked Radio Systems. Make sure you or someone who has an understanding have entered the Talk Group ID's programmed for the TSYS Object in a Scan List. The TGID's can be found using the RRDB.

The Wiki has info on what a Trunked Radio Systems is. While you may not be interested, and just want your scanner to work, a good basic understanding will help you program your scanner.

This might be a good a time as any to introduce folks who are newcomers to GRE/RS radios that we have fairly extensive information in our wiki to help them learn.

This page contains links directed squarely at the newcomer. The link for the Easier to Read guide for the PSR-500/600 PRO-106 and 197 is here, along with the 3 links that have user guides for both ARC500 and Win500. We also have articles that starts to teach you about trunking...

Getting Started with your GRE/RS Object Oriented Scanner - The RadioReference Wiki

Sorry to the PRO-96 and 2096 owners - neither of these radios will trunk on 700 Mhz. Time to upgrade, I'm afraid...

and just to round things out, we have a similar article for beginners using the Uniden DMA radios. The Easier to Read guides are at the bottom

Program your DMA Scanner - The RadioReference Wiki

Remember all links, whether here or on our wiki, are colored blue...

Uhhhhh, Mike, The only GRE model that decodes the TDMA usually used on 700MHz systems is the PSR-800.

Since GRE has not relocated their factory anywhere (more than 16 months since they were shut down by China) their radios, especially the PSR-800, are becoming harder to find on the "new" market. I was fortunate to have decided to buy one right after GRE's announcement, and when HRO had them on a "special" sale. I should have bought more than one!! Have you seen some of the prices for a "like new" one on Ebay!

Your articles referenced in the quoted message were very good, even to someone like me who has been using the radio for more than a year.

Thanks!

JK :)

ps: Check out Marksscanners.com - They have finally gotten an "Easier to Read" manual for the PSR-800, and it is realy good!

TG 154 active with a patch from the 800Mhz system was recorded on my HP1 today. It was not being used bi-directionally, just repeating SW-PMA. Not sure what site.

Hi all,

So I am confused by what I see in the RadioReference frequencies. When I look at the website, I see a set of public safety control frequencies. But when I download into Win500 software, a different set of control frequencies are downloaded. Is it the download database and web on-line viewable information is not in sync yet for the rebranding?

I assumed all I needed to do was download the new data from the database. The offset table which is provided elsewhere on this site agrees with what I get when I download from the database.

So please ignore part of the above. I didn't pay attention to the "CC" flag so it's the difference between control channel only, which is ok for my pro-106, and all the channels.

With the change in Delaware, am I fine by just downloading the most recent database from RR and nothing else needed?

Download all of the channels as I am not sure of the CC rotation. They seem to have stuck to 1-2 freqs but just to be safe. Otherwise it will work just fine. Depending on the tower you are receiving there may be limited traffic. It is not a very busy system overall and DOC ops very routine...until something goes wrong.
