January and May meeting minutes for the Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee have finally posted. They just give a good idea on how this is all progressing!

Still doing site shelter and microwave work in May, but they predict the new system should be ready "to turn on" in the coming months. If that timeline holds, we should see sites coming up for testing by late Summer / early Fall.

Random question about this system, I provide the feed for NCC Fire, a couple weeks ago something changed and now with either my primary or back up scanner I get really low performance. Any one else notice a change? I am pretty far (Smyrna) from the NCC site but used to get it well. Now its really a crap shoot. Verified what I can, I have an SDS 200 and 996p2 as primary and back up. Using the Remtronix 800mhz antenna but ordered a DPD 800mhz for my tower.

Tower at the Delaware Emergency Center / DelDOT Site just north of Duck Creek along the west side of Route 1 Is the farthest that Newcastle county Simulcast System Goes, You should pick it up fine, unless they started the conversion process to a full P25 That is scheduled for the third Quarter of 2024, which we are now in the middle of Now

Did you always run an SDS200 or is that the new one you got that you were talking about on FB I think, there was an issue with some of the firmware releases and Type2 Simulcast performance being trash. Make sure you’re on the most updated version. Nothing else changed that should be affecting you.

It is a replacement SDS 200. The other definitely had issues. It displayed some terrible nonsense on the screen and wouldn’t respond to button presses. I just find it weird my 996p2 and the SDS have basically the same issues. I wonder if they changed power or something.

If I have time before work today, I run up there with some software to see if I can find more info.

I lost the signal but I wouldn't expect to have a signal much at all from Smyrna area if that's where it was coming from.

By the time I loaded the control channel in my G4 I got nothing, went to double check with the scanner and cant see it anymore.

I'll hold off then and wait for a more consistent signal. But still an interesting discovery.

Wasn't there talk a while ago that the plan was to merge DELWIN freqs and the SOD Public Safety SmartZone freqs together under the same system. I barely see any activity in NCC on those freqs other then the Wilmington sites and only for DOC, nothing else.

I could see them maybe using the DELWIN freqs first for testing and initial rollover to allow the SmartZone system to stay up as well for a bit during the cutover period?

The state just spent a s-ton of money to modernize the 700MHz system and issue new subscribers. The system shares some tower site infrastructure with the 800 system, but the systems will remain separate. Perhaps at some point subscriber will roam between systems to enhance coverage, but that's not currently possible.

Must of missed that part- who got added to DELWIN?

I know that the IOP zone on the SmartZone radios as 7IOP1 and 7IOP2 which are on the DELWIN system but that's it for interop between the two

I don’t think anyone got added to Delwin. I never heard much on the northern towers I always assumed no users roamed to those towers. Corrections and probation also have talk groups on the state system they use I’ve seen workers with mot radios. Delwin seems like a waste, was probably paid for with a grant to be compliant with one thing or another is my guess.

Yeah DELWIN's always been a mystery to me. I see activity on DOC TGs on the state system, but then saw some activity from the Wilmington site for DOC TGs that didn't mirror on the State system so it's not like they're patched in the background or anything.

I thought the whole backstory there was they were allocated the freqs for public safety and they used them to make DELWIN because they could, not because they needed to.

Similarly- I've seen DOC with APX6000 like everyone else, but I also know a guy who works in DOC who SWEARS they're harris portables...

You can use both Moto and Harris subs on P25 systems although some proprietary features may not be available. If you want to use either the current statewide 800 system and the Harris 700 system, you would need a Moto sub because of Smartzone. DOC investigators and monitors probably use Motos.

I think they only use Delwin inside prison walls, probation and work release don’t count. They won’t share resources like frequencies because the state doesn’t manage Delwin they put it up for RFP and wipe their hands of it.
