Does it appear that DelDot is slowly moving or has moved off the legacy system? I’m only hearing TMC on the P25 system, but I heard a few yards on the legacy system 🤔.

TMC is DelDot. The yards TGs are just smaller "private" channels for each area.

Lots of traffic on tg 309 off the Sussex cell: talking about roads and snow depth.

That talk group is Sussex traffic but what has me puzzled is that I live in Milton and I’m about a mile or so from The the main radio tower and I have yet to hear anything else besides the SPCA frequencies I have not heard that on the

Unfortunately, these turned out to not be new tgs; they are system resources like consolettes, etc. Sorry for the mis-identification.

The minutes from the two most recent Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee have been posted, and there were a few points of interest:

  • Once the system is vetted, other nonpublic safety agencies will be moved. Due to concerns about interoperability and public safety, they will be moved over later.
  • Aiming for statewide switchover by late January to February 2025.
  • Develop a roadmap for statewide AES implementation and secure funding for remaining updates.
  • Agencies will require new radios or updates to enable AES encryption; funding for EMS radios remains a challenge.
So the meeting minutes from November were the first that I've seen any mention about encryption. So are they implying that the P25 system could be fully encrypted or that they just want all radios to have AES encryption for strapped talkgroups on the new system?

AES is the CISA standard for encryption as ADP is comparatively weak, and DES is outdated. Just about any large system operator is going to require this feature to allow radios on their system, but they don't require its use as that would be an agency-level decision. The inclusion of EMS funding challenges in a bullet point is concerning as the HIPAA canard is frequently used to justify encryption of EMS traffic.

Thanks for the clarification! I guess it’s time to keep an eye on those public safety talk groups as they start to join the P25 system.
