Even though I no longer live in the area, I still visit have family in LA and have fond memories of being at the observatory.

Is anyone able to give a first hand account of what's going on with Mt Wilson and what danger, if any, still exists do to the station fire?

I heard that some T1 lines were burned up during the back-fire that was intentionally set. Anything else damaged?

Here's a question. Last week on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Williams was at Mt. Wilson doing a story about the fires. He claimed the among the Mt. Wilson antenna sites there were also cellphone towers. I think this would be a location too high for them. Does anyone know if cellphone tower antennas are allowed that high up (approx 5700')?

I have two cell towers that serve me. One is at 9310 feet and the other at 6738 feet. My elevation is 5500 feet. Both sites are about 6 miles away. I suspect the San Fernando Valley is less than 1000 feet elevation so I really doubt Mt Wilson at 5700 feet would be used to cover the valley, but may well be directed into the back country.
