We went star gazing at Cherry Springs state park (highly recommend it) this summer and the KC-135 is right near there currently. It is a high open area world renowned for its open skies for star gazing. It would probably be a perfect area to get comms and see some things. When we went there was no activity so we only went at night. (on the map its the square with the green area next to it) If you have the time check out the Kinzua bridge ( Kinzua Bridge State Park ) it is breath taking.
I'm going to have to check this out.

Thanks for the information.

Mark,

With the Biden era coming up was wondering if you have the freqs in use at KILG, which I assume he'll be using.

Airnav has these:

Airport Communications
CTAF:
126.0
UNICOM:
122.95
ATIS:
123.95
WX ASOS:
PHONE 302-328-1536
WILMINGTON GROUND:
121.7 275.8 [0630-2300]
WILMINGTON TOWER:
126.0 352.05 [0630-2300]
PHILADELPHIA APPROACH:
118.35
PHILADELPHIA DEPARTURE:
118.35
CLEARANCE DELIVERY:
119.95
ARNG OPS:
46.9FM
EMERG:
121.5 243.0

Are these good freqs for KILG?

As for me, I'd probably only be able to hear the approach freq but might be worth a try
I never get traffic on Philly apch 118.350 around here into KILG.
Used to be Philly appch South 119.750 for KILG but that freq seems quiet lately too.
Seems Philly apch 124.350 is the busy freq now.
Back when he was VP if wx was ok AF-2 would do Andrews to KILG and keep below 10k
so Pot appch>Dover appch>Philly appch then KILG tower...

Pirate 33 61-0314 K35R refueling VOLT 15 16-6767 C560 over NC on 324.600
I didn't know they could be mid air refueled. That's awesome. I wonder if that is what the gold looking circle on the side of the nose is.

Since you're closer to the DC Area than I am was wondering about freqs for the 1st Helo guys. In the old days they used 141.7 (AM) & 292.2. Are these still valid?

292.2 still gets some use. Though for A>A they seem to be using mostly 293.6, though 225.6, their secure preset is being used more and in the clear lately.
I think they limit VHF to ATC.

Rgr yeah no refueling Citation type jets.. That was Marine Corp 166767 MAW-4 an oldie I first got photo
of at Andrews in 2010 when it was almost brand new.
Sometimes ADSB-X confuses 6 digit Navy/Marine numbers like 166767 to USAF format numbers 16-6767
Those gold eyes on your photo prob air defense radar warning sensors.

How did you come up with that tail and associate it to a C560? That's not a valid tail for anything. A VOLT callsign would've been a C-17 from Charleston.

I found C-17 07-7185 as VOLT15 today. ADS-B Exchange - tracking thousands of aircraft

I would have sworn it was VOLT 15 I saw on the screen, but it might have been VM767 headed north after being over NC.

Now I'm confused, sorry guys

I am sure it is usual activity that I only noticed now but I have seen military planes from France, Germany and Nigeria going in to DC. Is there a Nato conference or something or is this normal activity. I'm on night shift today so I'm seeing things I don't normally notice. I don't think they are coming for Thanksgiving dinner at the White House lol

Bit off topic but watching many Cargo flights around the World with Covid etc I would say UPS made
the right call back in 2016.. Bet they are patting themselves on the back for that move and 2018 additions.
UPS Commits To Purchase 14 Additional 747-8F Freighters And Orders 4 New 767s

Anyone ID this aircraft out of KILG today? Went to FL41k and 560MPH.
Dassault Falcon customer test bird? They have a large maint shop at KILG. Callsign matches :)

Delaware could use some updated C-130J's to replace their old H models :)
