Last night an RC-135V Rivet Joint headed east and ended up in Cyprus. AE01CA 63-9792
Tonight an RC-135W Rivet Joint is heading east. AE01CE 62-413

AE01CA went to Souda Bay not Cyprus. Given the callsign probably a routine swap rather than an additional frame. Refuelled by LAGER715 out of Mildenhall as it went down the East side of the UK. Good collection of them deployed...couple of Vs a U a W. One of the ones painted to look like an RAF aircraft too

AE01CE landed Mildenhall around 07:50

I'm not familiar with the Restricted areas, R4006/8, over the Patuxent area. What controlling agencies would these TESTER T-38s be talking to in these areas ? Is it Bay Watch ? What frequency would they be using when above FL240 ? Any insight into how the airspace is structed there would be appeciated. Sectors/Frequencies. Thanks.

I've attached a file I created several years ago, which to my knowledge is still current.
It hopefully answers most of your questions.

Thanks, that's helpfull, but I was wondering about specific frequencies and sectors. It's still not clear who the controlling agency is working R4008 (FL250 and above). Is it "Patuxent Approach" or "Bay Watch" ? What frequencies would they be using in R4008 ?

Once acft depart PAX local area (120.05 & 121.0) the usually switch to one of the Bay Watch freqs. Once with Bay Watch they usually work on one of the two general area freqs (270.8 & 354.8). Depending of what activity they are doing then they use one of the Bay Watch discrete freqs. I haven't really tried to nail down any freqs specific to any particular R-XXXX area.

Or set up a (non-auhorized) beacon, repeating that. :)
Realistically, if the radio is in the command post, maintenance could just do a temp replacement with a PRC-113 and make the C.P. happy, it's been a long time for it to be out of service. (assuming its the radio and not the antenna).

Thanks
Joel

1740 BLUE-42 KC-135 60-0316 Utah ANG inbound Bangor from Salt Lake city.
That sounds like maybe staging for LN Altrav of a couple of F-15's going stateside later this week.
They always seem to use callsign BLUE-41-43. Maybe pull another F-15c out of service too.

The first F-35's go to LN to be based later in December. wonder if that is still on?
Evening Mark, BLUE41/CE033 cell should be an eastbound ex KWRB, 91-0332, 91-0605, 98-0134 are well overdue for return to EGUL, been just over 10 months for them to be polished up, normally takes 8 maybe 9 months max! The last lot of LN F15 which were westbound rode on RETRO81/BLUE41 (2nd November) so Id guess this one will be RETRO91/BLUE41 which would explain the RETRO81 out of sequence on the last westbound flight!.....did that Greek F16 ever return as well, expecting him to tag along as well at some point if hes still out there?

Off topic USS Hampton Los Angeles Class Sub returning San Diego from long Pacific tour.. Near end of vid they black out cranes it seems..hmmm.
USS Hampton (SSN-767) returning from Western Pacific deployment - YouTube
Saw freight train vid a short while back with two sub encased nuclear units on special train car.
Reader pointed out that subs have all fuel rods encased in the unit so they just winch them off the sub and away you go where
Carriers have to change actual fuel rods aboard. Not sure if that is all true.. Cranes may have been also for torpedo offloadings.
