Martin State MD-ANG A-10s working this morning. Had a COLT 1 flight (79-0094, AE18EC) landing runway 33 at 1116 and then RAVEN 2 (78-0707, AE18E0) at 1136. RAVEN 2 had gone to Dover for some practice ILS approaches using 257.875 and 279.625 - approach and tower - before returning to MTN. Both used 297.2 MTN Tower for landing. By the way, neither of those aircraft show in Scramble as belonging to the 104th FS.

1146: Now I've got WARDOG, a flight of two A-10s, arriving at MTN for landing...297.2
One of those two aircraft is 79-0113, AE18F6. (Turns out it was WARDOG 2)
1147: COLT 2 contacts MTN Tower to report 15 out for initial...297.2
I lose the Mode-S signal between 700-1000 feet from the A-10s. However, the C-130s usually give me a signal down to 100-300 feet and, occasionally, all the way to the ground at MTN.

Two of those A-10s with Mode-S turned on have been displaying the same thing in their Flight ID/Callsign block for several months now - 78-0707 displays A10TEST and 79-0094 displays 15SSUCK (I guess meaning F-15s).

And, did everyone see the story about the stolen Piper at Frederick Airport that crashed?

First of all, GREAT to have you back here after such a long time!

I had a quick break and found it via skyvector.com on the H-12 Enroute: it's OXANA and on AR8 after the ECG VOR.

1814: REACH 1017 (AC-130U, 89-0514, 4th SOS/16th SOW Hurlburt Field FL) into the area at 16,000 feet. Many people have been following this one - especially in the UK when it was stuck at Mildenhall for a few days of maintenance before being allowed to continue its trip home. The aircraft is displaying its callsign incorrectly in Mode-S as RCH10170. It carries hex AE12A3.

Yes, Tin, that is exactly what that means. In the USAF fighter pilot community there are two competing world views: those of the Eagle (Ego) Drivers and those of every one else. Hawg drivers have no love loss for Ego Drivers especially since A-10 guys are relatively low on the fighter pilot food chain.

FWIW rumor has it Vision Airlines is a CIA contractor. I hear N769VA in the middle of the night at least twice a week either heading to Europe or coming back.

John, N769VA is a Vision Airlines bird doing DOD contract work which is what all four of their B767 types are doing...(N766VA-769VA)

a fake Brit accent when performing JTAC work, with some Navy boys they were working with getting upset when he did so. They'd have a terrible time with me, so many accents I can fake, so much trouble I'd be in! LOL!

Tony,

One time this past summer, when the 121st F-16s were in the PAX areas, one of them was using a Brit accent and simulating NATO AWACS/Magic controller passing targetting data. His accent was very good and had me fooled for awhile. This guy must be quite a "joker"

U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Joseph T. "O.D." Bachmann piloted the aircraft nonstop from Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth, Texas, plant to Patuxent River, successfully completing aerial refueling en route. Bachmann departed at 1107 EST, Tuesday, and arrived in Patuxent River at 1426 EST.

1201 local- TROUBLE 14 (sounded like) with GK on 135.225 request freq for Boston due to fuel emergency. Might possible said "direct to Burlington"....was weak signal. Can't find that call and it didn't sound like MAPLE
