Just happened to catch an A10(I think) flying over Chambersburg around 10:45 this morning.

McGuire is busy tonight. Activity on 139.875. And on the AR777 freq. 315.9

a large tanker has been making loops over the house. He's very low tonight and he's making much higher than normal angle banks. It looks pretty cool since the clouds are low and he's just on the bottom edge of the clouds.

Just curious. What are you guys monitoring on, radio only or radio with something like ACARS attached on a computer? I am in flight path for inbound Andrews JB and would like to monitor occasionally.

I could use the HP-1 with record on, or an older (very older!) 100 ch scanner just programmed with air freqs.

Any suggestions for a old scanner who is very newbie to listening to air bands.

I don't have one myself but I unnerstand there's a separate acars decoder.

these guys ACARS - Free ACARS decoder for Linux & Windows - acarsd
giving away a computer program that apparently decodes.
we started a 2014 sticky so you might want to ask there. good luck
