1435: Have three freqs up with fighters...143.25 is probably PA-ANG A-10s, 140.725 is U/I and 344.6 is U/I but the suffix 63 was used.
1437: The fighters on 140.725 are talking about pressurization issues.
1440: Sounds like the NJ F-16s are getting ready to head home. DEVIL is giving BDA reports to WARHAWK on «141.725» The RAVAGE flight is still in ground attack mode on «138.875»
1442: ALLEYCAT contacts CHARIOT on «388.95» to say he's relinquishing timber back to CHARIOT. Thanks CHARIOT for the work, says the training was great, apologizes for the earlier comm problems and hopes CHARIOT got something out of it. He says they'll all get better at this as they practice it more.
1445: RAVAGE flight finishes its work and switches to «140.0» to contact ALLEYCAT...no joy...push Blue 17 - 138.875 and they do.
1452: The NJ flights DEVIL and BICEP have reached Atlantic City Approach on «327.125» and are preparing to land on runway 31R.
1452: And now an ANGRY flight (F-16s from Andrews, flight of two) on tac «143.15» sound like they're heading home. This flight was at Bollen Range as they report to SENATE SOF on «139.9» They go to Reagan TRACON on «269.0» approaching Andrews from the Baltimore area and then make a stop on «335.5» for their approach to runway 19L. From here it'll be to Tower on «349.0» to land where they do go to report gear down, full stop landing at 1500.

1503: More fighters working the Bollen Range on «237.2» Callsign RAVEN (A-10 Martin State)
1504: Not sure where the RAVAGE flight went after they left Pax but they are just starting an approach back to Andrews and report in on SOF freq «139.9» and then to Reagan TRACON on «270.275» where they start their descent. Their tac is V-6 «139.15». One of these guys is the one with the farm that they always fly over and talk about. RAVAGE 1 points it out as they fly over it. Switch to Tower on «349.0» to land at 1512.
1511: U/I fighter activity «142.9»
1512: RAVEN A-10 talking to a WARCRAFT at the Bollen Range. «237.2»
1520: RAVEN reports he's "winchester" for bombs but has a Maverick left. «237.2» He's still working with WARCRAFT which appears to be a ground based controller.

Okay, that's enough for this stuff. The temps are in the low 60s today and the skies are sunny so I'm going outside to enjoy it. This has been the strangest winter in memory - at least so far.

No discussion necessary....

1800 hour: A pair of DEVIL F-16s on tac «138.425» and BICEP F-16s on tac «138.875» in some very loud and clear ground attack activity at Pax. One of the DEVILs is playing the part of IRON CROSS and WHITE LIGHTNING who are in a JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) role during the daytime exercise.

If you want to see the role of a JTAC in Iraq near Mosul, go to this link
http://www.strategypage.com/gallery/articles/military_photos_200551221.asp
and right under the picture on that page is a link that's marked simply Video. Click on that and it will open it. You'll watch a strike called in on a group that's pinging away at a Hummer crew. It's close air support at its finest.

1909: Flight of four BULLY F-16s from Andrews just returning home on tac «139.15» and with SOF on «139.9»
1915: REACH 993 to Andrews Command Post on «378.1» Id's as a KC-10 Heavy with tail number 79-1946. He explains that he was due in to Andrews but because of an inoperative transponder, ATC will not allow him to proceed to Andrews. He's going to divert to McGuire and wants them notified of this and says he's about 30 minutes out from there. He has 46 D/Vs on board with several Code 2s. He also wants maintenance notified at McGuire about fixing his transponder.
So why isn't he REACH 946 instead of 993 considering his tail number?
1919: REACH 993 calling McGuire Command Post on «319.4» No reply.
1924: The BULLY flight is with GCA on «335.5» approaching the field at Andrews. Still at 2,000 feet. They're heading for runway 19L.
1930: BULLY flight to Andrews Tower on «349.0» report gear down and begin their landings.

2211: GRAYHAWK 43 (E2C, VAW-120 Norfolk NAS) with ZDC-Blackstone VA on «380.3» looking for lower altitude.

TinEar, I have 344.6 as Andrews Metro, but it's such an old listing, I can't say for sure if that's correct. I did a quick check of the listing on the RRDB, and I didn't see it.

Mark that as a tentative....73s Mike

The CAP is now up over the Super Bowl site in Detroit. The current fighters are F-16s JUDGE 75 and 76 from the WI-ANG. They are working with HUNTRESS and currently with TANKER 31, a KC-135R from Pease AFB NH, for refueling. An acquaintance has an audio broadcast up with the action. You can access it with Windows Media Player at the following IP address:
http://24.11.210.156:8080/
It won't work by just clicking on that address...you've got to open the Media Player and then enter that URL. I'm hearing a very clear broadcast.

Another callsign used is ADORE 03 - Canadian F/A-18 Hornet. There have been references to the CAP names as MUSTANG and BRONCO CAPs.

TinEar,
Are you still able to connect? I get an error about the server not being available when I try.

Thanks,

Greg

Yes, Greg, it's working fine. Listening as I'm typing this. You are opening WMP first, right? Then click File and Open URL within the WMP window and enter the address I provided. That should do it unless your ISP is blocking it for whatever reason.

Alan

[Edit] Another possibility is that he set it up for a firm number of users and that limit has been reached. Just a guess on my part.

1725: Now I've lost the CAP broadcast also and getting messages from others that were connected that are now shut out.

1735: The broadcast is back up...he had to do a system reboot.

Looks like MilAir is waking up this morning. In the first half of the 1000 hour heard a couple of TESTER aircraft (11 and 16) working with BayWatch on 256.5 and 270.8. At 1038, there were two C-130s from Harrisburg on Baton Ops freq 395.1 talking about winds - BATON 51 and 53.

1049: Giant Killer's 238.1 active with callsign TOTEM (1st FW Langley)
1050: GK's 249.8 has COBRA and RISKY (1st FW Langley) COBRA goes to ops freq 391.2
1050: Langleys' tac freq 358.85 active.
NOTE: I've long had 238.1 and 249.8 labeled as Giant Killer's freqs for entry into the W-386 area. However, today I heard a reference to 249.8 as being the "north radio" which probably makes 238.1 the "south radio" taken in context with the Langley fighters that were entering that area.

1100: Langley's tac freq 233.525 active. Callsign COBRA
1106: COBRA 11 reports to GK that it'll be 5 minutes until RTB and then direct Langley «238.1»
1126: Northrup-Grumman test flight freq active with two aircraft «123.225»
1127: REACH 4061 arriving at Dover on Command Post freq «349.4»
1140: Navy 691 with Pax River Approach on «305.2» and then with BayWatch on «354.8» to work in area for 30 minutes from 3500-15000 feet. When he's finished here he's going to do approaches at Pax River for 45 minutes to an hour.
1145: Langley tac freq «228.45» active. Ground attack activity which means this has to be F-22A aircraft. First bomb release is from 30,000 feet at .9 Mach.

1225: Langley's tac freq «257.075» active with more F-22A fighters in ground attack mode. Currently operating from 35,000 feet. (No wonder I hear them so clearly.)
1229: OPEC 76 (KC-10 McGuire) arriving there in A-2 condition with CP on «319.4»
1233: Langley fighters on «257.075» talking about a bailout of a pilot from approximately 30,000 feet. They see one chute currently at about 25,000 feet and are talking about assets on the ocean - one ship near where the pilot should come down and another near the area. I have a feeling this is simply training but am not entirely sure of that. Immediately following that report, the Langley pair changed freqs (to 23 Prime) but I can't find them.
1243: Might as well stay in strange mode...just heard OPEC 76 (KC-10) on «126.85» which I have programmed as Cherry Point Base Ops but it sounded more like ATC traffic. Anyone have a listing for that freq? (Could be slopover from ZDC's 126.875 but I doubt it because generally my 785s are more selective than that and also that if it's ZDC, the 126.875 freq is used for Virginia traffic and we know OPEC 76 was approaching McGuire from the transmission at 1229.)
1248: REACH 01 landing at Andrews. He's with Approach on «119.3» and with Tower on «118.4»
1258: Flight with ZDC-Sea Isle «281.45» which sounded like TREND 21. Mentioned going to freq «141.3» where I heard them asking for the weather at Shaw. Heard a ground station giving that weather report on «141.3». (Yeah, I don't know that one either.) Back on «281.45» TREND reports holding at FL280 after requesting 310. Also heard a mention of Scott AFB. "Push 257.7"

1303: TREND 6 to 5 chatting on «141.3» (Part of the TREND 21 flight)
1305: TREND 21, flight of six aircraft, with ZDC-Salisbury on «257.7» at FL280, requesting 310.
1313: Northrup-Grumman test flight still up on «123.225» They are aircraft N160W and N161NG.
1314: Parts of the TREND 21 flight also using «142.25» for chat.
1320: Parts of the TREND 21 flight chatting on both «141.3» and «142.25» but starting to weaken as they move through the area. Noise levels are very high again today on VHF so weak signals become difficult to copy.
1322: TREND 21 flight to ZDC-Norfolk on «327.8» FL310 direct Kingston. (Repeats this 3 more times with no reply) Goes back to «257.7» with Salisbury to report this so is given a Victor freq of «133.825» and no contact there either. Back to «327.8» to try again there. (133.825 is the Victor side of the 327.8 ZDC-Norfolk freq)
1327: Back to ZDC-Norfolk «133.825» where TREND 21 reports at FL310 and direct Shaw (AFB SC). It takes two more minutes but TREND 21 finally gets his message through.
1332: TREND flight giving fuel reports while on «133.825» rather than on tac. TREND 24 is a female pilot. These should be F-16s coming in from Europe. The TREND 11 flight of six F-16s came in on Feb. 2nd.
1335: RAVAGE 1 (F-16 Andrews) with ZDC-Calvert «281.4» and then Pax River Approach on «305.2» Flight of two.
1336: TREND 21 flight leader tells the flight to push Uniform-1 freq....probably their SOF at Shaw but couldn't find it in time to copy.
1338: RAVAGE 1 flight into BayWatch's area on «270.8» at 15,000 feet. Playtime of 45 minutes. Tac freq for the flight is «139.15»
1348: BULLY 1 flight (F-16 Andrews) reports off at (13)44. «139.9»
1349: BULLY 1 flight with Pax River Approach on «305.2»
1352: The RAVAGE flight is doing ground attack exercises over the town of Vienna at the Pax River Range. «139.15» They are picking out vehicles on the roads to attack.
1358: GRAYHAWK 3 (E2C Norfolk NAS) with ZDC-Casino «285.4»

NOTE: More info on that TREND 21 flight...they are F-16s from the 22nd Fighter Squadron based at Spangdahlem Germany. They are going into Shaw today and should leave tomorrow for Nellis AFB to take part in the Red Flag exericise.

1504: CRATE 1 and 2 (1st FW Langley) on Langley's tac freq «358.85»
1506: Two flights of Langley fighters enter GK's area -- BOBCAT 11 on «238.1» and CRATE on «249.8»
1513: Another Langley flight - KICK - into GK's area on «238.1»
1515: Langley's tac freq «233.525» active.
1516: Add Langley's tac freq «228.175» to the active list.
1519: HAWK 21, flight of two, with ZDC-Sea Isle on «281.45» and then ZDC-Salisbury on «257.7» at FL210 looking for lower. (Too many units use the HAWK callsign to put a firm ID on this flight, however, most are F/A-18s.)
1544: Have that HAWK 21 flight with Norfolk TRACON on «370.925» report they're going into Cherry Point.

I posted some bad info in the above log - specifically the entry at 1258. The first traffic on the TREND 21 tac freq «141.3» was not weather being given by a ground station as I thought I was hearing. The weather for Shaw was being reported to the TREND flight by CACTI 63, a tanker that was accompanying the flight. Sorry for the error.

1811-23: Have a pair of fighters chatting on tac freq «142.25» No IDs heard yet.
1823: Also have a pair of fighters on tac «143.25» This one is generally A-10s of the PA-ANG at Willow Grove. They are talking about having to descend to miss another flight in their area. Getting comments like..."Wow!" and "That was close!"
1826: CADE 1 flight (A-10 PA-ANG Willow Grove) with Philadelphia South Arrival on «317.55». This is the same flight operating on tac 143.25.
1830: CADE 1 calling Washington Center on «354.15» Confirms this as ZDC.
1831: BULLY flight of four F-16s from Andrews on tac «139.15»
1831: UGLY flight (A-10 PA-ANG Willow Grove) on «354.15» and then to BayWatch on «354.8» for 30 minutes playtime. These sound like the guys working the tac 142.25 freq. Don't usually get the Willow Grove A-10s into the Pax River area. It sounds like we're going to have more exercise activity in that area. One of them mentions WARHAWK.
1840: CADE flight with BayWatch on «354.8»
1845: Both CADE and UGLY flights are working the Pax River Range around the Vienna area. «143.25/142.25». Each is a flight of two A-10s. Although they earlier mentioned WARHAWK, it doesn't appear to be turning into the type exercise we had the past two weeks. It's just normal ground attack missions.
1854: UGLY flight putting their IFR RTB flight on request with BayWatch on «354.8»
1855: The CADE flight is now split across two freqs...one stayed on «143.25» and the other is on «141.8» and keep talking to each other. This is unusual.
1855: BULLY flight with BayWatch on «354.8»
1858: UGLY flight leaving the area already...change to Center on «354.15» and report in at 11,000 feet. They are still working tac freq «142.25».
Wish we could get a firm ID on this new Washington Center freq. The normal first check in with ZDC after leaving Pax is usually with Kenton on 277.4. However, I've heard 277.4 since our first noted use of 354.15 so I don't think it's a replacement for that one unless they are using both freqs for awhile.

1903: UGLY flight on «142.25» talking about upcoming missions to Red Flag in October and ???? Hammer in August and something in Washington State that neither know the name of.
1904: UGLYs over Dover at this time...talking about something off their nose...Philly or Atlantic City or ????....they agree it's not McGuire....they just don't know. «142.25»
1907: UGLY flight on «354.15» are handed off to freq 286.0 which they try and get no joy so back to 354.15. They don't know what the 286.0 freq is either. And I sure don't.
1908: CADE flight still at Pax. «143.25» And both are back together on the same freq.
1911: CADE will leave the range after the next drop. «143.25»
1914: CADE to BayWatch on «354.8» to clear off range and then to ZDC «354.15» and ask for non-standard formation in 2-mile trail.
1915: UGLY still near the water somewhere «142.25» And still talking and talking and talking....just enjoying some night flying on a nice, clear night.
1916: Have some very weak activity from the Duke MOA on «301.6»
1921: CADE flight on ZDC «354.15» and handed off to «269.25» where they report in at 11,000 and want direct to Willow Grove. (And who is 269.25? They were already talking by the time I got there so don't know who they called. It's not a Potomac TRACON nor ZDC/ZNY freq.....unless it's a new freq for one of them.)
1926: CADE leaving 11 for 6000. «269.25» While bouncing around the ATC freqs they continue to chat on «143.25»
1928: CADE through 8,000 continuing to 6,000 feet. «269.25» At 1929, leaving 6 for 5,000 and "push 6" meaning they're done on this freq. (And that was the last heard from the Willow Grove A-10s.)
While searching for the CADE flight I ran across 304.225...not CADE and it's a new freq for me.
1935: REACH 705T with ZDC-?Casino? «127.275»
1941: REACH 705T to McGuire CP on «319.4» arriving there at 2005 local, no pax/cargo, need parking.
1942: STEEL 71 (KC-135 PA-ANG Pittsburgh) on refueling freq «228.0» Can't hear the aircraft he's talking to.
1943: BULLY flight of four F-16s on ZDC-Calvert «281.4» and tac «139.15» and to SOF on «139.9» as they return home.
1955: BULLY flight with Reagan TRACON «269.0»
1959: REACH 920 with ZDC on «127.275»

2003: BULLY flight with Andrews Tower on «349.0» for landing.
Believe there was another F-16 flight that came home about 20 minutes earlier. Missed their traffic if so. All I heard was a flight on 349.0 landing at 1943.
2048: LOBO 582 calling Andrews Command Post on «141.55» No reply to multiple calls. (Several units use this callsign so ID is difficult. I'll go with a C9B from MCAS Cherry Point.)

Dave, if you're reading, do you know the V-1 and U-1 freqs for the Willow Grove A-10s where they contact their SOF? And does their SOF have a callsign? Thanks.

0930: Langley tac freq «228.45» active...callsign MILLER.
0933: YODA (1st FW Langley) into Giant Killer area on «238.1»
0936: Warren Grove Range active on «283.1»
0937: YODA to GK's ops freq «391.2»
0938: DEVIL flight (F-16 NJ-ANG) active on tac «138.425»
0938: MILLER with GK on «238.1» where GK asks them to go to 288.4 for a radio check with HUNTRESS.
0938: MILLER calls HUNTRESS on «288.4» and gets no reply which he reports back to Giant Killer on «238.1» MILLER also says his flight is ready for RTB. MILLER has the sound of the F-22A transmitters.
0943: Sounds like the DEVIL flight with Dover Approach on «257.875»
0930-45: Northrup-Grumman test flight freq «123.225» active
0947: BANGER 21 (F-16 NJ-ANG) into BayWatch area on «281.4»
0950: BANGER tac freq is «138.875»

1030: The NJ-ANG BANGER flight is at the Pax Range area and is simulating the exercise they did the past couple of weeks. Although they are calling KINGPIN and WARHAWK, those parts are being played by one of the BANGERs. «138.875» The DEVIL flight is still working «138.425» doing much the same thing in that area.
1130: BANGER and DEVIL flights finally going home. Leave Pax, check in ZDC-Casino 285.4, ACY Approach 327.125, etc.

On the 354.15 MHz issue, we can rule out the following sectors so far:

ZDC-Casino: Still Tx on 285.4
ZDC-Swann: You would hear the controller Tin since it Tx's from BWI (360.6 is still hot?)
ZDC-Kenton: 277.4 is still active

That leaves:

ZDC-Woodstown, normally on 363.0??? My guess is =this sector has 354.15 but only monitoring will tell.
ZDC-DuPont which has the new freq of 307.25
ZDC-Potomac which has the freq of 381.5???
ZDC-Sea Isle which has the freq of 281.45???
ZDC-Bay which has the freq of 379.3???

I would have thought that DuPont would handle inbounds to Willow Grove, but seeing that they have the new freq, I am puzzled.

Let's take a look at those Paul...

Casino 285.4 and Swann 360.7 are still there in their original configurations and should be tossed as possibilities.
Kenton 277.4 is/was still transmitting during the time we heard 354.15 - BUT - might they have overlapped for a period of time? Not sure yet. The reason I look at Kenton is because that's the normal freq they contact Center on upon leaving the Pax Range when heading north and occasionally Cape Charles 256.8 which is still in use. If south, they use Calvert 281.4 whch is still there. And yet we've had both NJ and PA fighters come off the range directly to 354.15 heading north. That's the most puzzling fact to me.

So, on to the second set of freqs...

Toss out Woodstown, Potomac and Bay simply because those are not sectors anyone uses coming off the Pax Range area (around Vienna in southern Maryland). Sea Isle still operates on 281.45 as of last night so that isn't a choice. That leaves DuPont. Are they still using 307.25? I don't know because I haven't heard anything there in over a week. That's not unusual though. Additionally, DuPont is farther north than something that would be used off Pax Range so that's a strike againt it being DuPont.

And then we had the additional mystery last night of the handoff from 354.15 to 269.25 which is also an unknown (to me...so far).
[Edit] No longer a mystery...269.25 is Philly South App/Dep as is 317.55.

Yes, more listening is in order if we're going to figure this one out.

Oh yeah, Woodstown...they are listed on both 363.0 (Millville) and 362.3 (Cedar Lake) at the Center. I haven't heard 363.0 in ages but do hear 362.3 occasionally - within the past week.

1300-05: Fighters on tac freq «141.875» Normally VA-ANG
1306: Two A-10s reporting to Philadelphia South Arrival/Departure on «317.55» Callsign FLYER (A-10 PA-ANG Willow Grove) climbing to 10,000. Handed off to ZDC 354.15
1308: FLYER 1 flight calls Washington Center on «354.15» reports at 10,000
1310: Fighters on tac freq «139.45» This might be the FLYERs.
1315: Fighters on tac freq «141.825» Normally VA-ANG
1317: T-BOLT F-16s from VA-ANG into Giant Killers area on «249.8» Says they'll be MARSA with SLAM (also VA-ANG)
Believe the 141.825 are the T-BOLTs and 141.875 are the SLAMs.
1318: FLYER 1 flight handed off from 354.15 (ZDC) to 305.2 (Pax River) where they check in and say they are proceeding to area R-6609.
1320: FLYER flight handed off from 305.2 to Pax Advisory on «354.8» to check in for 15 minutes in R-6609 from surface to 20,000 feet.
1324: FLYER 1 flight leaving 10,000 for 3,000 feet «354.8» See ya.
1358: Langley tac freq «358.85» active and so is tac freq «233.525»

1405: Langley fighters working Norfolk TRACON (West) on «360.6» heading to 12,000 from 10,000.
1410: MAI TAI 1 and 2 callsigns being used by Langley fighters on «233.525» This is a new callsign for them. They also referenced a MILLER callsign here. Both are probably F-22A aircraft.
1413: Northrup-Grumman pair of test flight aircraft active on «123.225» Actually, they've been active for the best part of an hour - just didn't log it.
1414: Have a French accented pilot into Andrews on «141.55» only got his numbers 2080...arriving in 20 minutes.
NOTE: Based on ground attack activity, the MAI TAI callsign can be logged as F-22A aircraft.

Welcome aboard Russ...a notepad sure helps the logging routine.

Been away from the radios...new TV delivered that I have to unpack. In the background I've been hearing the Nj-ANG F-16s flying again first half of 1500 hour....tac freqs busy.

Russ, you've got AERO 21 and 22 from the NJ-ANG on tac 138.875 at the Pax River Range. There is another pair of F-16s from NJ-ANG on tac 138.425 - possibly DEVIL 11 and 12 also there....nope, it's BICEP 11 and 12.

1338: <141.875> Pilot instructed to go south. Kept hearing "32" "he'll come up behind you and probably kill you" (at least thats what I thought he said)
1340: <292.3> Giant Killer active with an exercise (I hope)
I keep hearing JEDI(?) SPADES and BULLSEYE followed by sets of numbers
1348: exercise terminated <292.3> someone mentioned being at BINGO, they were talking hard and fast while the exercise was going on
1355: <349.4> C-130 Tail # 31039 requesting 20K fuel and fleet service when they land
1357: <249.8> someone in the area for the next 45 minutes
1401: <378.1> missed the details but they were loud
<257.2><358.85><264.55> active in the last few minutes
1416: <123.225>"this will be a hot run"
1426: <378.1> active
1429: <139.45> Pilot saying "1 is <a set of #'s> 2 is <more #'s>"
1432:<348.725> ANGRY 1 requesting direct to Andrews
1437: unreadable traffic on <349.0>
1441: 322 working Baywatch (most of traffic unreadable) <264.55>
<140.95 am> I hear a lot of traffic on this frequency but the audio is so low that I cannot understand it. The signal is strong enough to break full squelch, but the audio is too low. I hear this a lot both day and night...any ideas who this is?

1530:<138.875> "2 good hits...smoke and secondaries..."
1535:<138.875> somebody 22 targeting a bus....talking about lasers
1551:<138.875> ARROW 22 dropping bombs
1555:<138.875>ARROW 22 counting down "3, 2, 1 splash"
1604:<138.875>Both ARROWs talking about a bus, people getting out, etc...?
ARROW 22 much louder than 21

I need a logging program, this is happening faster than I can type and look at frequencies, time, etc...

Thanks Alan, I am doing the notepad thing. I bought a RS PRO-2055 and I have in it is mil air in it. It doesn't seem to hang up as much as my ar-8200

Hi Russ- welcome to the list. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the 2055 is a GRE product, there are no computer generating log programs for it. However your 8200 is another matter- we have a fairly extensive Wiki page on it. What does it 'hang up' on? If it's birdies, there isn't much that can be done with that, but if it's garbage from local FM, AM or TV stations, there are filters that you can get to handle that. We have several links for those in our Wiki as well.
Wide banded receivers like that tend not to play well in heavy RF environments. Their front ends simply can't handle it.

1830: There is a pair of F-16s from the VA-ANG Richmond, callsign THOR, up and working at this time. They are on tac «138.0», with Giant Killer on «249.8» and ops on GK's «312.3».
There is another pair of VA-ANG F-16s on tac «141.825» No callsign heard yet.

1900: Have Bollen Range active on «237.2»
1900: Have A-10s from Martin State active on «142.3»...probably who is at Bollen.
1906: THOR flight talking about landing on runway 26, however, there is no such runway at Richmond so I'm not immediately sure where they're going. They just switched from tac to Norfolk TRACON on «370.925».
Correction to all of the above...the THOR flight is a pair of F-16s from the ND-ANG at Fargo and are going into Langley. They IDed as such to Norfolk. I should have known that from the 138.0 tac freq which has always been used by the SPIDER flights from ND-ANG when they are deployed to Langley. This flight said they are part of the "alert detachment at Langley" and are from North Dakota.
1915: STEEL 62 (KC-135 Pittsburgh) calling MOVER 26 (KC-10 McGuire) on «228.0»
1918: WILD 1 (F-16 Andrews) just coming home and with SOF SENATE on «139.9» Flight of two.
1924: BATON 51 (EC-130, Harrisburg) into Giant Killer's area on «135.725»
1925: BULLY, flight of four F-16s coming home to Andrews on tac «139.15» and to WATERGATE on «139.9»...all Code 1s except BULLY 1 which is Code 3 for a bad targeting pod. Report at 69 miles out and then back to tac.
1931: Martin State A-10s are at Pax around the town of Vienna. «142.3»
1934: BULLY flight with Andrews Approach on «335.5»

Just had a MUSSELL flight fly by my house. One at 1909 and the other at 1915.
They are MUSSELL-03 and MUSSEL-06B. Heading to Mt. Weather. Last night NIGHTHAWK-16 went out there for some touch and gos.

And at 1923 MUSSELL-06 reports he is 5 minutes out. Checking in on 241.0.
The other guys all called back to MUSSELL OPS on 292.2 to let them know what's up.

1926- I'm kind of confused now. Originally, I heard -03 and I thought -06 too. But I know for sure that -06B was the second one to fly by. I'm not sure where -06 came from because he surely didn't fly anywhere near my house.

1927- Now MUSSELL-03 tells -06 that they're taking off.

1929-MUSSELL-06 is on a left base approach. And cleared to land at pilot's discretion.

1932- PAT-583 a US Army Priority Air Transport calls to Andrews on PTD 372.2. 15 minutes out. Has 2 pax, a Code-5 and requests 350 gallons of fuel. Was extremely loud and clear.

Just after the PAT flight, Washington Center was calling HOOK-44 on 319.1 (Linden). Told to switch to 285.6 (Grantsville MD) if they copy.

2015- A MUSSELL on 292.2 reporting he is west of Dulles in the vicinity of Manassas.

Thanks Mike,
As far as the 2055, I should have said a recording program of sorts...not necessarily a logging program (guess I was caught up in all of the excitement). I think my 8200 is just picking up garbage from the ether. I live in Alexandria, and there seems to be no shortage of RF. On a side note, for whatever reason, 324.0 kept making both of my radios stop for seemingly no reason today, but that seems to have gone away. I have a control cable for my 8200 and I have downloaded several programs, but good old WinXP does not seem to like it...I'll check the Wiki for a solution.
