Hi Everyone,

I have heard that a lot of departments are getting new radios. The radios they are choosing are made by Tait. I have heard that departments are using the 8100 and 9100 series portables and 9155 series mobiles.

Has anyone heard anything??

Tait makes nice radios, but I don't they've managed to penetrate the US market to any great extent...as yet. A Google search will show you what they're selling, and it includes P25 stuff.

I have heard that almost 20 public safety agencies have moved to Tait and that number is growing! It appears that public safety departments are saying goodbye motorola

I think that Hingham FD bought Tait when they went to UHF. Some of the other towns in the area might be doing the same. If Tait is competitive with Motorola on features, durability, and price, then they are going to make inroads.

Tait radios seem to be popular with Electric Utility companies nationwide.

I heard that Hingham FD and PD put up a Tait P-25 system but are still using analog at this time. Weymouth did the same I also heard. Canton Fire went to tait I was told. Waltham PD and FD went Tait also.

Tait have very good reputation for robust quality products, Made in NZ. New Zealand Police in main centres just implemented Tait P25 encrypted system replacing analog Motorola stuff. Rest of the country in "due course" But cops have no money so it will be a long time before we loose LE traffic.

Hingham only installed Tait for the Repeater, in an Analog system

I spoke with someone on a Fire Department and they told me that over this past winter a Tait Portable during a fire was sprayed with water and ended up freezing. The radio was thawed out and put back into service with no noted problems.

Goes to show just how rugged and reliable Tait radios are!!
