After listening to several chases, with locations, I have decided that this is West Valley City Animal Control.

So then what, mind you I am asking this to everyone, is TG 23936 that is currently listed as WVC Animal Control? It's a pretty active TG, shows quite a few hits.

I have never actually listened to it since I figured it was dog catchers.

I added 24032 but please let me know if either TG needs a correction. It's odd that they're nowhere close to consecutive if they're the same entity.

I based my decision upon listening TG 24032 most of the day today. The majority of the conversations were about different animals (dogs, cows, horses, and something in with the chickens) and the efforts to catch them. Again, I'm still figureing out the different towns around here, but address's used were 2400 W & 1300S; also 3524 W & 2695 S. and a dog chase on Parkway Blvd.
Was I close?

Yes, you are spot on for addresses except for the 2400 W 1300 S. That would be a SLC address.

That 23936 TG is listed in my Dusty List of Old TGs as WVC Animal Control too, so this creates a conundrum.

Might have to listen to them both tomorrow and see if I can figure it out.

I have been locked on to TG 24032 all day. There has been comms on it, mostly between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, but there was not that one sentence or statement that a person needs to make a positive ID. It is definitely an animal control TG though.

What ever happened to the old FCC rule that a transmitter needed to be identified once a day or so? I guess that computers do it in their digital bursts nowadays, huh.

I was locked on TG 23936 all day, and didn't hear anything. I'll try again tomorrow.

Okay, I have been listening to TG 24032 again today, exclusively. I even shut down my other units so as not to be distracted. Yes, there has been traffic on this TG today and I can tell you that the mobile units that have been on today are Alpha 82, Alpha 83, Alpha 84, Alpha 86, and Alpha 90. I can also tell you that, yes, this is an animal control TG. I can also tell you that the users all sound like 18, 19, 20 year old "kids." I can also tell you that they need some technical work on this TG because the mobile audio transmissions are terrible.

I have also come to a conclusion. It is going to take someone else listening to this TG to identify exactly who it is.

Nice job qlajlu. That's interesting that young people are using the talkgroup. What this illustrates is that talkgroups are "cheap." While it would be unfeasible to add a new conventional repeater for some specialty or temporary groups of users, once you have a trunked system it's easy to create a new talkgroup for most any purpose.

Looking over this thread I am wondering, now out loud, if maybe one of these TG's belongs to WVC Ordinance Enforcement. They have a pretty active group of people out handling things that violate city ordinance's like junk cars, weeds, signs etc...

I can confirm that this TG (24032) was assigned to "West Valley Fitness Center" and TG 23936 was assigned to "West Valley Animal Control", at the time I was able to map out a West Valley radio about a year ago. I have never listed to comms on either of these Tg's to verify traffic, but as of a year ago that is the way it was mapped.

That doesn't make any sense. First, why would the fitness center need radio communications at all? Second, why would a fitness center have so many mobile units (See post #9)? Third, why would a person hear dogs...a lot of dogs...barking in the background when "Control" keyed up the microphone? Fourth, why would a fitness center chase a loose horse over on 5600 West? (Well, maybe) Fifth, why would a fitness center be dispatched to an address to pick up a box of kittens?

Nope, I'm not buying a fitness center for this TG. Sorry.

I agree with you, but when I mapped this radio, this was how it dispalyed. I dunno unless the fitness center was training 18,19 or 20 year olds to be AC officers ;). I dont have trunker so I don't know who's radio id's are hitting this TG.

It would appear that there have been some changes to the TG assignments over the past several years. Unless WVC has incorporated chasing down stray dogs as part of their "Fitness Center" activities, TG 24032 is being used by WVC Animal Control. Maybe it is a TAC channel, and not their primary. What I know is what I reported earlier.

So I think we can all agree that TG: 23936 is WVC Animal Control.

As for the actual TG that this thread was for TG: 24032 is Still Unknown.

I have monitored it for several days from Site 3 and received no transmissions at all...

I would propose that 24032 be modified in the DB to show WVC Animal Control? as we are unsure about it user at this time....

I am thinking this new fitness plan, Animal Aerobics might catch on with the right marketing. :)

Funny that you would say this since I monitored TG 24032 from Site 3 (CC 868.1125) and had a fair amount of traffic on it all day both Thursday and Friday. I monitored TG 23936 also from Site 3 on Wednesday and never heard so much as a squelch break and what is more confusing is that TG 23936 is the one listed in my Dusty List of Old TGs as WVC AC.

So it appears, bneilson, that you and I have had just the opposite results.

I would appreciate someone running Trunker or UniTrunker to tell us how many hits they are getting on both of these TGs over say, ...er...24 or 48 hours...ah, business hours, not clock hours.

I have also been locked on to TG 24032 all day yesterday (Saturday) and did not hear any traffic, but then it is a weekend and all the cats and dogs take the day off. I wonder what they do on Sunday.

Hey, we could get in on the ground floor of this new, revolutionary type exercise plan and make lotsa money! Maybe we have stumbled onto the answer to our dreams of wealth beyond reason.
