I was a very nice write up,but it is like comparing the 1927 Yankees to the 1996 team

You can't compare scanners from different era's IMO I have a Pro-2006 and it is a classic but it cant compete with a feature rich Bcd-996,certain aspects or bands yes but overall it cant compete..

I would not buy a scanner without 2 key features, trunking is huge if you need it.

The two single most important features are CTCSS and DSC decode and Text tags..

The 97 is a much better overall scanner the mil air on a pro-43 is excellent but you have to evaluate the whole package..

I found just scanning ONE bank on both scanners, the Pro-43 tended to pick up broadcasts a little quicker. Right, the Pro-97 has 100 channel per bank and the Pro-43 merely has 20 channels per bank. But the Pro-97 scans faster ( 60 channels/sec vs 25 channels/sec).

And the math still shows that the PRO-43 will end up getting there sooner. The PRO-97 has 5 times as many channels per bank but scans just over twice as fast.

All your arguments against my BIG Pro-43 vs Pro-97 COMPARO are completely valid and painfully logical.

I thought you guys were going to play the "nothing can compare to the amazing Pro-43" card.

I was 180 degrees wrong.

Still, Pro-43s are selling for around $100 on Ebay...someone still wants 'em.

YEp I'd be in that Demo...
I own the BCD396T ,AOR AR 8200 MK3, Icom IC R3
Crapshack 97 ,(good scanner though)

I have owned the 95 and 92 I think years ago:confused:  :D

IF I had tad more liberal budget I would buy again the 43, 95 92
and MANY others old and new
It's like the Macs Verses PC
PC's of course being better
Linux Best of all .... LOLOLOL

Or the 57 Chevy verses the 2007 Chevy
The 57 WILL ALWAYS SELL OUT
Now the 2007 I doubt will
MOre people relate to the PC's and older recivers etc as the are
Dependble, have proven theirselves and so Forth
Some these new scanners not Evryone needs or want the features and the High prices that come along with them...
Same goes wiith the MAc and PC wars
I REFUSE to pay Two grand for an Overpriced, overrated machine..
I tried one and owned one It was a RIP OFFF
I went PC and swear by PC
and Linux Too LOL!!!!!:D

Anyways
Quality is Quality
and the rest is BS

It why MAcs advertise the most
and PC's hardly ever
Ya all know the saying the the bigger the ad the bigger the CRACKPOT LOL
USually associated with Lawyers but I have learned apllies all through society

the Pro-97 ISN'T Re-bandable for the New 800 Assignments, Ya might look into the Pro-528 which is 800Mhz re-bandable and ONLY $169.99 at you're local Radio Shack. a few catches, No MILL-AIR and NO Text Tags. Personally, (I can Live without Text tags.) Radio is NOT Capable of CTCSS/DCS Programming. (It decodes CTCSS/DCS but will NOT Display it nor allow the user to program it to a specific frequency - SERIOUS DOWNFALL) Recomendations? BUY A UNIDEN - BUY A UNIDEN - BUY A UNIDEN - BUY A UNIDEN
