• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Not to sound nit-picky, you may have meant that but it’s an important point that the user will need to launch the new application with the new icon on the start menu. Since it’s not really “upgrading” the previous version, it might not be obvious that they need to launch the newer version separately from the previous version.
If the new one needs to be installed concurrently with the old one, and the old one was uninstalled, how does that work?

I purchased mine from Command Communications in the past week and just received Friday. I was told it was Phase 2 when I purchased too, but I had to apply the V1.00 T08 firmware to bring it to match what others here say is the Phase 2 FW version on theirs. The Phase 2 download link (no link card was included in box) provided by email from the seller contained the v1.00 T08 FW, a slightly older Phase 2 PPS, and other tools. See my other post for the FW install details.

I haven’t actually yet connected to a Phase 2 system, but I will try that soon.

Oh. Didn’t know you were receiving P2. So now I don’t know if my upgrading from v1.00 to v1.00 T08 was actually an upgrade or not.

Maybe Ray (Rays Pagers) or David (Unication) can pipe in.

Oh boy... this will get us all wondering now! Is T08 newer or older than the regular 1.00? Maybe T08 was “test” firmware and 1.00 is the official? Or vise versa? Obviously they both work on phase 2.

My G5 I got from Rays a few months ago has T08.

Yeah V1.00 is definetly picking up p2. The big question is which is the newest V1.00 or V1.00 T08? I need to know this before i update my fw from V1.00 because i have the T08 fw file but not the V1.00 thats in it now.

Yeah, hold off. I don't have the v1.00 to go back to either.

I went from v1.00 T08 (the phase2 upgrade) to v1.00. Then went from v1.00 to v1.10 vT06.

All,
Ray from Ray's Pagers replied to seth21w and my inquiries about which is latest FW. He said v1.00 is a bit newer than v1.00 T08. But he also added that newer firmware than those is coming out soon. So we just all need to be patient!

Ray (of Pager Sales) answered this on the Facebook G# page earlier today. He said the V1.00 is the more recent and that another firmware update is in coming in the near future.

I just ran the installation file for the new PPS. Both versions show in my programs list, and I start the one I need for that pager. Eventually, I will just use the newer version.
