I got a skid of 120 NX-700 Kenwood radios for $300 dollars at a local municipal auction, all worked and had come from the transit system.

Saw an old "Tradescope 2001 23 Channel Transceiver" at a local Flea Market over the weekend. Had a sidefacing SWR/strength meter. I didn't buy it but the guy was asking $20 bucks. Never heard of this brand. Still had the old "8 track" under dash slide mount on it and it looks like an old CB radio license call sign (KDD8463).
I posted a picture in the CB forum- "For all you CB old timers".

I know this is the scanner forum, and in addition to thrift shops I also find that a lot of antique stores often don't know what they have when it comes to radios. I found my Sony ICF-2010 shortwave for $20.00 that way. Great condition. I could turn it around for $250+ but I love it and use it daily.

Hello, It has been a long time since I made a post on this forum. On Fri 2/21/15 at a local Goodwill store I found a Bearcat 210xl with antenna and no power cord for $10.00. Put in on my workbench checked it out with the correct power cord I and a NEW 9 volt battery and working great.

RS Pro-2018 at the Goodwill for 2.95 no antenna. Added a BNC antenna, plugged it in, works great! Currently scanning CHP and LACO Sheriff in my neck of the woods with it. Boy is it LOUD :)

SAY WHAT?!?! One of those radios brand new is worth at least $900. You have at least 40 grand worth or radios at the price you paid for the whole lot!!!

On Friday 4/10/15 I bought a Radio Shack same weather alert monitor from a local Goodwill Store. Radio Shack Model 12-250 for $3.99.Works great and is very loud on the alert mode. I will also be watching our local garage sales in the local area for electronics. Have made some great deals in the past and those events.

Found but did not buy these 2 at a local NJ Flea market.

Realistic Pro-14 10 channel scanner, vendor said it was working but he couldn't hear anything (probably no frequencies in crystals active in this area) was asking $20.00 with old fashioned center loaded telescoping R/S antenna.
Regency MR-33 Monitoradio, vendor was asking $45.00. I don't remember this radio at all.

I remember the RS Pro Series scanners. Look how simple they were. Great nostalgia here. Thanks for the memories.

On Thursday 4/23/15 bought a pair of Motorola T9600's in yellow with the charger, wal wart and the 2 handhelds for $5.99 at a local Goodwill Store. They both work and look like new. They are very nice. You never know where you are going to find a good deal. Lets keep this post going and let us all know what you all find related to out radio hobby.

During last month's "E-cycle days" I snagged a box of ten 800mhz XTS3000 IIs which were headed to the scrap heap. They're all in decent shape and only two have missing pixels in the displays. Time to throw em on ebay.

I found a BC-210 $5.00 last year.

Last month I found a Midland WR-100 for $2.00.

Yesterday for $25.00 I bought a BC235XLT, a BC345CRS, and a PRO-2040. Only needed cleaned up and needed antenna's and power supplies which I found I already had.

My wife brought home a Uniden/Bearcat BC860XLT 100 channel scanner she purchased at a garage today sale for 25 cents.

I added a 9 VAC wall wart, tightened and resoldered the broken BNC antenna connection, and sprayed contact cleaner inside the noisy volume control.

So far, it works fine.

I reviewed a BC860XLT in May 1995 Monitoring Times and had not used one in the 20 years since then.

Mine wasn't a thrift store find, but a pawn shop score. Picked up a used Pro-106 with batteries already in it... 259.99 out the door. Added a wall wart for another 15 and she works awesome.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431149151.191331.jpg
