I will be attending thunder over Michigan in a few weeks. Looking for some help as to what talk groups to monitor on the statewide radio system and where they might be located within the system list. I assume I should use the Wayne County Simulcast site. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

I would suggest monitoring the Wayne County Sheriff Department and Van Buren Township. Most of Willow Run is in Van Buren Township which is in Wayne County but the extreme western end of the airport is in Washtenaw County. Both the sheriff and Van Buren Township are on the Wayne County Simulcast site, they might also be on the Washtenaw County Simulcast site so you might want to try Washtenaw County and see which you receive better. I have never seen the state police on the airport grounds but you might consider programming them also.

I'd be more inclined to have the statewide Event channels as they are for multi jurisdictional usages.
IMHO I rather would tune in the air boss, all the other frequencies used there along with the Blues frequencies. ;)
MSP in that area are going encrypted as well as statewide FYI.

...Or, if you're like me, take 1 scanner for the air show frequencies and 1 scanner for public safety!

As mentioned already, most of the public safety will be on the Statewide Events talkgroups. Usually the G-Events, but I would program H-Events too, just incase. Not sure which system you will hear better at Willow Run, but both Washtenaw and Wayne Simulcast will probably carry all traffic. Might also want to program Van Buren Twp and maybe the Wayne County Special Events talkgroups. 118.175 has been the Air Boss frequency for years now.
