YES, after 50 years of monitoring I have constant hissing, my wife says it's those darn radios ,,,,I told her NO it's from you yelling at me !!!

Early in my career...but I was around a variety of airframes for the rest...and I wasn't even a maintainer.

I have tinnitus pretty bad. Not sure the cause but looking for a cure. What I have along with it is Hyperacusis which can be a trigger to worsen the tinnitus. For example the latch on my patio door sets it off. If you are getting loud sharp noises from your radio or headphones, it can be a trigger, most def... Maybe invest in some adjustable DSP audio processing to cut off sounds below or above 300 to 3 KHz range.

I've got it. I don't listen to loud music or scanners. I often have the radio on, but it's background noise.
I did spend a lot of my career in noisy equipment rooms. In my younger years I did work where I should have been wearing hearing protection, but didn't.
Researching it a bit says some medications will cause it.
No idea what caused mine, but I'm dealing with it for now. I had a co-worker that claimed sitting in his hot tub smokin' a big old doobie resolved it for a few hours.

I told my doctor that that would be my last resort if he doesn't figure this out. Tried all the other magic pills.
I had my worst exposure during weekly commutes in a turboprop and since recently realized my lawn tractor is very loud so wear earplugs when mowing now.
I've got it pretty steadily now in my 60's. Not from radios but likely due to seeing Motorhead (in clubs and small halls) over a dozen times in my formative & rebellious heavy metal years. It was never a problem until I started professional land management/grass mowing on commercial ride-ons pre retirement that seem to have pushed things over the edge.
Yes, I did experience tinnitus after listening to the scanner. However, this was after listening to deafening metal music over 50 years.
Do you mean that you never had tinnitus prior to listening to the scanner? If you put your ear up to a Bearcat IV, the loudest radio I've ever heard, at full volume for over an hour, I might consider this to be a factor in tinnitus.

Are you playing your scanner audio through a 1000 watt amplifier?
I will share a bit of advice if you love music loud enough to take your breath away. My nephew is in a Death Metal Band. When he attends a loud concert, he leaves the area for 10 minutes every 30 minutes or so. When they play, they wear protection for their ears. Allergies are my biggest problem with this disorder.

I am almost 70 and have had tinnitus for a very long time. Mine is a constant sound sort of like white noise, with an occasional pop. Most of the time I don't even notice/think about it. However, when I am very tired, it is much more bothersome.

Yes, but it's not radio-related. I blame insufficient hearing protection and swimmer's ear. For a lot of work I do, I need to step up to double hearing protection. Jackleg drills are LOUD.

Is it even related to having been exposed to loud sounds? Maybe some of them are but I sometimes get a high frequency tone just at the limit where I can hear a frequency. There are some suggestion on Youtube and other places to reduce tinnitus that involves slapping your fingers at the back of your neck, that does something with your nerves and for me it actually works and completely silence my tinnitus. It can be annoying in a quiet bedroom when its time to sleep and that tone can be heard very loudly. Then that trick can be a big relief.
