• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

What programming software do I need to program a TK-5410D? I'm thinking about picking one up for use on a P25 phase II system. I believe I need the KPG-95 software but there's at least three revisions out there, KPG-95D, DG, and DGN.

The "N" designation is for the narrow band software that was released in late 2012 to meet the FCC mandates.

The non-"N" software was from before that. Firmware from late 2012 and later will require the "N" software.

The "D" model radio is the P25 Phase 2 model and it uses the newer software.

"K" usually means the North American market. Just like the radios, some radio/software versions are market specific and out of market software won't work with US market radios. This is a common issue I see when someone just downloads software off some random overseas website.

So would the DGN software work without the K if I'm trying to program a P25 phase II system?

I don't know about that. Never tried.

If you are programming a trunked system, you're going to need some additional stuff:
You'll need the KWD-ANK-AK access key for programming the trunked system.
The system administrator will need to help you with that.

So is the KWD-ANK-AK like a physical flash drive looking thing that enables the software to program a phase II system? Kind of like a hardware key?

Yes the kwd-ank-ak is a slave system key device that is programmed by the system administrator with their master system key. It is a usb hardware key. Depending on the system you may need a special kpg-95dgn to program the radios. Some system require single radio files and other special functions which requires a different software version than the normal production software.
