Not sure where you read that but the buildout deadlines are in 2024.

"The reason for the project? The Federal Communications Commission has informed the township that the agency is claiming Toms River's current radio frequency. That means the township must switch to a new frequency by the end of 2023." 11-22-2022 GTR8000.

Uh, if you're going to quote me, quote the full post in context or link to it. What you're posted there makes it sound like I'm the one who made such an idiotic statement. Here is the full post in context:

Talking to some TRFD guys today, the new system will be 100% E on ALL talk groups. The FD is trying to fight it on all FD TG's but are not having much luck. Keeping my fingers crossed that the FD can get their way.

Sounds like the PD is running the show which usually means that it will be configured to their whims and desires with little regard for any other public safety "brothers." It always seems to happen that way.

So if Toms River FD is switching to their new trunked system, will the FCC allow them to use 154.145 for paging? Or do they have to forfeit VHF for UHF?

If TRFD goes all "E" then they should not rely on any Mutual Aid from NON "E" agencies due to the lack of ability to communicate.

I've always wondered why Police Officers don't die because of "E" but Firefighters will?

Generally its because the agency who controls the system doesn't like to give out the "E" key, especially to a dozen volunteer fire agencies

Have the FD members/leadership relate to township leadership, "If our members can't hear it in the clear, they are more likely to become disenfranchised and/or disconnected. even unaware of ongoing fires/events in a township as large as TR". Volunteer labor costs far less than career. Many times, adjacent companies/mutual aid companies can hear an incident and start heading to their stations anticipating a possible response. When I grew up in northern Bergen County, if a neighboring town got banged out for a W/F, I would non-emergency head to my station as would others. If/When called for M/A, that vital first responding engine or truck was moving instantly versus Plectron. whistle, respond...adding 5-10 minutes when help is crucial to mitigate fire growth.
We had a beach house in Ortley. Seaside Heights ran first due to most of the Toms River oceanfront alarms. Will this force Seaside Heights and other mutual aid responders to get new radio/program existing radios. Isn't the Ocean County fire side of trunked system a more reliable method of cooperation/radio contact for larger events?

I manually put the frequencies I got of the FCC in==license for the new Toms River system to see if I get anything. This is the first time I have done a P25 TRS manually. IDK if I did it right but this is what the my SDS100 screen is doing. I have it on TG Search, I haven't gotten anything since about 1600 today. I had to make it a short YouTube video because I couldn't upload it right to this page.

Someone needs to run Pro96Com or Unitrunker on the system to get info, being over 20+ miles here from a site probably would take a decent band opening to decode.

I’ll program my Unication with the system and take it to work with me tomorrow,I’m not far from the McPherson Street site.

This is another TG I hit on. The two pictures are the same hit. I just couldn't get the whole thing in one screen shot.

Looking at the radio ID that could be a fire TG,I’ve seen the same range of TR IDs on the county system.

Edit: 1507531 is in fact a fire radio that first came on the county system 4/15/22.
