<Nope - no special settings required. You can toggle scanlists by simply pressing the keys ... press '1' to turn scanlist 1 on or off... press '11.15' to to toggle scanlists 11 and 15...>

That's weird
I don't use scan sets either and it does nothing when pressing one of the number buttons, If you press func then a number the trx1 goes to certain menus but that's it. I would surly like it better if I could change
the scanlist.

Something must be missing here.... so you have a populated/programmed scanlist 1 that is enabled -- then you press '1' and then wait 2 seconds - nothing happens? No beep? Nothing?

That would be weird.

No. A fraction of a second is not enough time to determine what talkgroups are currently active on a trunking site.

Yup - if you change the "default" DWELL time to something smaller on trunk systems, you'll likely miss traffic (and/or not receive anything at all).

Granted - 0.5 seconds for LTR is a "fraction" of a second....P25 is defaulted to 0.8 but Motorola is defaulted to a full 1 second.

So, technically, some types are a "fraction" of a second but not by much.

"Power rest procedure"?

I'm sure you meant "reset" but I do not believe there is a 'power reset procedure' for the TRX-1 ... there is a "Restore Factory Defaults" option in EZ Scan.. can't imagine that would change anything but you can try....

Power reset that works with many electronic devices::

1) pull the plug and or remove batteries

2) press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds while pressing any other button.

3) reinsert batteries and power on

Hmmm... news to me....

The basic functionality of a TRX-1 includes the ability to toggle scanlists on and off with keypresses.... I'd be shocked if what you describe does anything in this situation.... but, anything is worth a try....

My Trx-1 is all gargled too on P25 drives me nuts. I can't even listen to it anymore. The TRX-1 comes with a PC software called Ez Scan, it's not easy. You can import your frequencies/talk groups from there if the computer recognizes the scanner when plugged in. Mine won't update, says cannot find scanner yet I can copy current config to SD card. If I rename the channels and add channels or remove whatever and go to copy current config again all my renaming is gone.I have windows 8.1 and windows 10 neither will allow me to update. You can apply LEDS for different talkgroups like red for ems or green for police but on mine they all are the same color, they work they flash but the same color. I had mine professionally programmed that was a joke and a waste of money. I got one county all on one scanlist. Everything and anything was on there. Trash trucks, old depreciated talkgroups and crap I didn't have any idea what it was. I finally figured out how to delete the stuff I didn't want and organize the stuff I wanted to keep on the software but it never made it to my scanner. The software says no scanner. I have reinstalled it multiple times on different computers and the same thing happens. And now that everything in my area is going from 800 to P25 it's terrible.I even have bought a new directional antenna for it, still not working. I wouldn't recommend the TRX-1 or its software.

A lot of issues in this post...First, writing to the sd card uses different drivers then writing to the firmware. With windows 8-10 you MUST use the "unsigned driver" procedure for the comport driver that is needed to set the clock and update the cpu and dsp firmware via ezscan.

Bad usb cables will also cause the computer to not write to the cpu or dsp chip.

In addition some usb chip sets don't play well with the comport driver.

Start by having the scanner off, usb plugged into the scanner and the PC, go to device manager in windows, look for ports, you should see your scanner under that, if not then the driver is not working and you will have to reinstall. See this link to download the trx-1 pc driver https://whistlergroup.com/products/trx-1-pc-driver
Google unsigned driver procedure and follow those instructions to install the trx-1 driver.
Once installed try and set the clock again and report back.

Do you by any chance have the Backlight Settings set to Ignore First Key Press? This will affect the response of the keypad in addition to the backlight. I have mine set this way to prevent errant presses of the keypad mucking things up. So, to change from scanlist 2 to 3 for example, I press "2" (to wake it up) then "2.3.." to effect the change. Just verified that this behavior does NOT affect the Fn key... it always works on the first press.

My trx1 doesn't turn on and off scan lists by just pressing the Number on the key pad...

Note: I believe this might work differently if using other than the default "scanset".. Idunno - I don't use scansets.

I do use Scan Sets, and it still works exactly like you describe--as long as the talkgroups you want are in an enabled Scan Set. If the scan set is not enabled the radio reloads, but doesn't include the Scanlist you tried to toggle on. No error message or anything like that.

So I can definitely see how a Scanlist could fail to be enabled. What I can't see is how a Scanlist could fail to disabled if it's already in your scan.

I had very confusing issues with my TRX-1 until I began to learn and understand it. Most of my difficulties were self-induced minor things like when it wouldn't react to the button push - didn't have a QK assigned - or getting nothing on my trunk scans - didn't have a service enabled - or I would get dept, channel and system site keys all mixed up and duplicated somewhere. Stupid oversights that seemed minor but slammed the brakes on my radio. When I took the time to appreciate the information I obtained here on this website and applied it accordingly it really made the difference between night and day. Now my scanner rocks but only because I dialed down the frustration. Still took me maybe 20- 25 uploads before I started getting it down. I had the audio issue here with a simulcast system and dialed down the DSP as someone here mentioned until I got it right and now the audio is loud and clear right from the radio.

I look at it this way - this radio (and the ws-1065, bcd536 which I own) are like fine Fender and Gibson guitars. Right out of the box they usually don't play well until they are set up properly, intonation set, action lowered to your liking, bridge adjusted, pickups adjusted, nut filed if needed, etc, and then proper strings tuned and played hard for a bit to break them in. Then it's a guitar. You pickers out there will know what I mean.

Treat it like you would your woman...now, don't tell me you're divorced, ;)
