I am told from an inside source that the changover will happen soon. The county will distribute handhelds programmed for the new system and agencies will use those while Staley Technologies goes around reprogramming mobile units. I am also told that all law enforcement in Tuscarawas County will be encrypted.
Well I’ve been waiting for a long time to find out they’re going to be encrypted it doesn’t surprise me oh well at least we can listen to the fire and EMS

Testing today again on many of the aforementioned TG. Just an observation, when Stark organized their TG list, they started at the beginning with 42021, I believe because the first 20 had already been assigned prior to the new system and went in order thereafter. They are since only up to 45229 that we have logged so far. Tuscarawas has been testing all over the board from 46503 up to 46996. Seems like either they have no rhyme or reason to the assignments or they have used all 500 TG ID's.

Most likely they had someone "helping" them assign talkgroups (probably from MARCS). Outrageous randomness is a MARCS trademark.

From a system administrator perspective, it makes talkgroup and radio ID management quite a bit more difficult.

Is anybody monitoring the Tusco Co MARCS SImulcast? One talkgroup ( TG: 46541 ) has been quite active this past week, and one a little less so. Just wondering if anyone has identified its use thus far.

Two people directing traffic. Could be an FD on an accident or a crew at a road construction site. I will listen for a bit but this is an awful boring use of my G5.

Ok. Figured I'd ask. Supposedly it is "79 TRAFFIC". But I really couldn't pull in comms clear enough. And I have no idea if it's supposed to be a Law or Fire talkgroup.

I am surprised you cannot get this system better. Where are you at in Carroll County? I am sitting here in Canton and getting 2 to 3 bars on my G5.

My location sucks and I am using a 700 mhz yagi that just doesn't cut it for 800 mhz. I'm about a quarter mile from the Napa right before ya head out of town and meet the junction of 39 towards Mechanicstown. About 1080 elevation, and everything is higher around me.

I blocked out the BECI turds. Damned interlopers :)

If MARCS really wanted to deal with loading problems, all they have to do is shut off statewide roaming for all the prison talkgroups except a couple of transport talkgroups; that would take care of quite a bit of it. . . . .

As we have heard, some of the non-public safety users have already switched over. If my source is correct, Smith Ambulance will switch over tomorrow (Friday 5/29). They get their radios today. The remainder of public safety users will switch Tuesday 6/2.

Trying to program our G4's for my department and I'm a little lost. Stark County was easy. All the towers for us were under the same RFSS and Site ID. But I see four different Site ID's listed for Tuscarawas County. I'm not sure if I'm just getting zero reception or if I programmed them incorrectly. We are in SW Stark County.

Here's what I used:

WACN: BEE00
System ID: 348
RFSS: 3
Site ID: 19

Primary: 857.7875
Alternate: 855.4875
Alternate: 856.2375
Alternate: 852.425
Alternate: 853.425

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Trying to save us some $ and a several month wait to have a company reprogram these for us.
