So I’ve programmed my Uniden bcd436hp via the Sentinel app and turned on EMS, Fire and Law service types among other things. But when I write to scanner and the turn on, load up my favorites list I see this. I don’t even have the ability to turn these on, there are just dashes next to the service types. What am I missing here?

In sentinel you can enable every service type there is. But in the scanner, if nothing is programmed with those service types, or a list with those types is not set to monitor, they show as dashes.

Perfectly normal.

If you’re looking to create a list, read scanner into sentinel. Then look for add channels in range. Set a range, select service types of interest and when prompted choose new fav list. It will import from db nothing matching the criteria you select. Then look thru and delete anything unwanted. Then go in profile and turn on monitor and download for that list. Then write to scanner.

I’ve programmed my location in on sentinel
But did you set the list to use location control? If you created the list manually, instead of appending systems from the main database, did you also manually enter location data for all the systems on your list?

Also, for the list in question, do you have that list set, in your Sentinel profile, to be both downloaded to the scanner as well as monitored by default?

Look at the Scan Selection menu option. Be sure that your list in question shows as "On".

I don’t know how to set location control. I just added the favorites from the pre-loaded database within the sentinel software.

In sentinel look for edit fav list. When new window opens with that list, it’s in one of the tabs on the right side of the window. Not at my pc at the moment. Maybe someone can post a pic.

In the Favorites list Editor, select the name of the list. Your choice of whether, or not, to use Location is accessed on the Options tab.
