The way you will know where you are in the queue is that you will get the custom buy now PayPal/credit card button via an email message from us.

Any mechanism to know where we are in line?

****I know you're being inundated with folks/questions, so thank you for all of this (and ManCow). You guys just have a product that the whole scanner world wants!!****

I'm working on developing a custom backend to do that and automate the return emails. I'll look into something simple, like making a return receipt to the email address used as an indication to you. Believe it or not mancow is still crazy busy making additional changes to the software, he's a workaholic, similar to myself.

As promised here is the link to the Touch Scanner website.

Things to keep in mind.

Hardware to build these is scarce.
Costs to purchase hardware seems to increase consistently. Volume purchasing is not usually an option for the Raspberry 4 Pi's.
Only 1 purchase per valid email address until more hardware becomes available.
Please be patient, we will work the kinks out of the process as we move forward and more hardware becomes available.

Thanks

Latest Update on the Remote Touch Scanner

Just another quick update. mancow believes the latest image that he created will be the final image, he has incorporated a few fixes. Now, both the Uniden 436, and Uniden 536 scanners work as well. I hope to add additional images to the website later. We're exploring adding a few of the other Uniden models to the compatibility list.

I made all shortcuts large and one touch. I added a large power off shortcut on the desktop. That way a user can hit EXIT at the top left of the remote screen which dumps out of the program to the desktop then touch the power shortcut and it powers down.

Similar to the SD card scanners it really should be powered down gracefully without just yanking the power. That will be difficult for some who are using ignition switched car power sources but it is what it is. It could possibly be assisted by use of a cell phone power bank in line that is plugged in to charge and then feeds the remote like a small ups setup. I would have liked to have included an internal battery but that would have driven up price and time delays.

People can customize it quite a bit though with all sorts of similar contraptions. Just try not to block the air flow. That is, provided you can get the case off. Man those things really lock on there.

We would like a much better case but that's still being researched.

I'll post some images and overall guides soon but it's pretty simple. There are just a few things to take note of and some simple procedures if it doesn't do what's expected. Most pertains to how the SDS and the device interact via USB. Sometimes if the USB is removed for too long it times out looking for the radio and a simple reboot of the radio prior to plugging back in refreshes things.

A video demo of it working in its current state would be great, just for those who are curious to see it running.

I know this is a work in progress, and I'm all about the remote head. I just think the pricing point is a little steep for the first go-around. Having a 3D printed case that is subject to bending/ warping becoming at some point damaged from heat just from being in a holder around your dash of some sort is one of my reasoning for saying this, the other reasoning is the uncertainty of the Rasberry PI and the computer like boot-up and shut down mentioned. I for one know that at some point I will end up shutting it down prematurely, and want to know if this at some point could "brick" the unit?

I know many factors go into pricing things like these, especially when parts are not quickly available to keep up with any demand that might come with this project but, I think for the "cheapness" of the cases, and uncertainty of the operating system along with damages to the unit from the heat that can occur, I'm going to wait and see some real reviews from those who purchase it. If we can find a way to get a little better quality for this unit and keep the cost where it is now, I will be in for two like I have said since finding out about it. Maybe even offer a unit without the GPS for those of us who already run a GPS with our units to cut the costs.

Great work gentleman (and ladies if involved). I love seeing how you have advanced this so far and think you all will be on track to make the Big U notice and maybe buy you out or bring you in on getting them massed produced!

Yeah, I just saw the price, and the case subject to warping. I thought the price would be about half that, and I wanted for mobile in hot steamy Florida. Unfortunately, I will be OUT on the first batch and see how it goes from there.

Interesting, I made this post this morning, just went to check my notifications on my phone, and found this bad boy being suggested by Wish ..... Maybe not the same exact unit but, the case is what's needed.

This is also how we now that our phones track what we discuss on the web. Scarry really.

Here is the latest update.

I have spoken to a local metal manufacturing company about creating custom cases for our device. In the meantime, as the hardware appears to have all but dried up. In most instances, not even being able to order the hardware until almost the end of June, then a 2 to 3 week lead time for delivery, makes it very difficult for us to build any more devices.

To that end, those who have submitted a request through the website for a device, will have their devices built and shipped as the parts already on order arrive. We are sourcing more hardware daily and will fulfill all existing orders. As the hardware supplies have dwindled, in some instances, the cost of the hardware has gone up. We will not be adjusting the price to reflect those changes.

What we are doing in the interim is testing the previous models of the Raspberry PI. So far the testing looks promising but needs further development time. If our testing is positive, we will then re-open the order process on the site using the various versions of the Raspberry PI that test successfully.

As indicated previously, you will receive an email with the purchase button when we have the hardware for you device. Once you use the button to complete the sale, your device will be built and shipped. We will not bill you in advance. Our plan is to keep everyone informed here and on our site, as well as via email to those who have placed an order.

We will send be sending out a confirmation email to all of the people that have submitted a request for a device. This will be confirmation that your request has been received.

Here is the latest update.

It's a lousy weather day here, but a great one as quite a few of the parts that have been on order to continue building the remote head are starting to arrive. mancow has made an addition to the device with a custom GPS holder, as well as the cases are now being made from PETG material. We are still exploring the custom metal cases but thats not going to hold up the building and shipment status. In addition, some changes have been made in the software to make things easier and to adjust the satellite connection time. It wasn't bad before, but now it's much faster. We expect to begin shipping out the completed devices this week.

Here's the latest update.

For those people who have submitted a request for a device you should have received an email requesting your mailing address. This is your physical mailing address. We've started sending out the PayPal button to the email address that you used during the request process. We are building, testing the devices now and will start to ship out devices as they are completed.

Thank you for your patience.

I am super excited about this. Thanks so much for those who have worked on this project. I have 436hp and got a new truck and looking for a remote head. I have dabbled myself in stuff like this.
This was when I was running a car PC.
Super excited can't wait to get my hands on it.

Here's the latest update.

mancow has made a few more changes to the GPS functions of the software and it has been tested with the HP436, HP536, SDS100 and the SDS200. The plan right now is to begin shipping them on Monday! Once you receive the PayPal link in the email address you used during the request process, your device has been built and is ready to ship once your device has been paid for. If you haven't received the PayPal link in your email yet, please be patient more hardware is arriving daily to accommodate the orders that have been received. The devices will not be shipped out until the PayPal payment has been processed.

For those people who have submitted a request, the first 12 devices are ready to be shipped. As indicated in the last update, we've started sending out the PayPal button to the email address that you used during the request process. The first dozen devices have been built and successfully tested.

Thank you for your patience.

Here's the latest update.

Shipping has started! 7 devices were mailed out yesterday, and I have the next 6 devices ready to be shipped.

I have emailed more PayPal links out the users on the interest list. Please look for that email, also don't forget to check your SPAM/Junk folder, you never know things get in these folders, but sometimes they end up there. The email address the link is coming from is rayers@touch-scanner.com

Thank you for your patience.
