As Mr. Spock would say - most impressive... At first I thought I was looking at a Sc-Fi TV program image, after watching the video - I am even more impressed! This would interesting to see how subscribers are affiliated with nodes within the system.

Here's some background on the currently available Unitrunker release.

The previews shown in this forum thread are for a forthcoming and as yet unreleased version of the program.

CPU loading

Hi Rick. What do you see as far as the CPU loading is concerned as compared to the previous releases?

At this point with beta 16 I see just under 2% per instance (Profile = 1.64), if I understand correctly.

Also, what can you tell us about running multiple instances. Is there a cap on the number of sites/systems that can be concurrently monitored? Will database files be shared?

Thanks,

LD

About the same.

No cap but you eventually hit a wall in terms of CPU load. You should be able to monitor 5 systems on common hardware. The limit for most folks will be usable inputs.

No ... but you're only running one program - with multiple windows and decoding sessions (I should post some screenshots to illustrate this). There are no plans to allow two machines to share data.

Looks neat. I can see the big improvements in the logging/data manipulation areas. Can't really see yet how the live display of channel activity will operate - please keep it SIMPLE and usable from keyboard-only with mouse optional (single keystrokes like Trunker are so much faster than grabbing the mouse, slewing to the right place, clicking, then putting your hand back on the keyboard to type!). I like the way you've kept it reasonably compact.

Just looking to clarify something. If I want to monitor 3 Zones of the same system, will the results all modify a single database or will it require 3 copies of files?

Looks really awesome!! Just a quick question can this still be run at full screen using ALT+Enter like the command line version?

Alt+Enter is a Windows function that allows a DOSbox or "command line" program to run in full-screen mode. I'd doubt it would work in the non-CLI app.

I'll answer with an example.

Configure the program to decoder from three receivers.
Each receiver is tuned to a different site (or zone) on the same system.
You assign a label and color to a talkgroup.
A call appears for that talkgroup on all three sites - with the color and label you just applied.

It's a multi-windowed program. You can maximize or resize each window to your liking.

Full screen mode.

Unitrunker works fine under Vista Ultimate, but Microsoft does not allow the full screen ALT+ENTER in Vista, what a shame. Full screen works great in XP though.

Unitrunker is awesome, can't wait for the new release. Thanks for all the effort!

3D traffic visualization / analysis via export file to Skyrails.

Good to see you've taken this idea onboard. Any particular reason for using Skyrails? How is the data being exported for use with Skyrails? In what format?

Years ago I previewed a commercial visualization tool that was targeted towards telecom and network security that provided this type of capability. I recall Ian Wraith (FTrunk) had also expressed a desire for this type of feature. The Skyrails demo videos that appeared on uTube last year re-kindled my interest.

The export file is Netdraw VNA format. Any program that understands VNA should work. Skyrails does not appear to support VNA node properties but there are ways around that. It is NOT a tool for the faint of heart - as there is no documentation.

Great stuff. Can't wait for this to come out. Been off trunk decoders for a bit now. Bit sick of looking at DOS style interfaces.
This is a great improvement. Looking forward to the release when it comes out Rick!!!

You've seen the basic model that Ian implemented and that used by Gerrit in TrunkView. It works well until there are a lot of datapoints (something US monitors will see more than European ones). The 2D representation becomes difficult to interpret when cluttered and a 3D representation can sometimes help a bit there.

Having the program give output in VNA format is great as there are lots of apps that are easier to learn than Skyrails. Have a look at http://www.visualcomplexity.com/vc/ for lots of examples (wish I'd found that site a long time ago!)

Is the output generated in real time?
