Interesting to see Zipscanners is pimping GPS accessories and says the 1095 is "GPS Capable". Scannermaster, Universal, and the other usual places have nothing of the sort.
To buy it or not to buy it, that is the question.
They were the same people who started taking pre orders 3 months ago, giving the impression it was about to ship.Interesting to see Zipscanners is pimping GPS accessories and says the 1095 is "GPS Capable". Scannermaster, Universal, and the other usual places have nothing of the sort.
To install where you otherwise could not. You don't have to detach it though. It is exactly like the 1080 only in mobile form. Full database in radio. You can use zip code or not, and just program what you want. It is not GPS capable. You can use it with a computer it not. Database updates and firmware updates will be via computer software, and easier to program some things. It is phase 2 capable. Not particularly similar to Uniden radios, but depends on what you mean. Database is on SD card in radio. What is the purpose of having a detachable face? Is it just something else to go wrong or fall off and fail?
Is the 1095 dependent upon having a computer? Is it similiar to the 436 or 536 Uniden Scanners using zip codes and Sentinel Program?

So between the Whistler 1080 and 1095 they are exactly the same as far as specs go other than the 1095 is large like a base station and has a detachable face. If I was to use either of these in the car then the 1080 would be a better choice? In home then 1095 would be better choice?
The only way you will know if the 1095 is better/worse/same than any other scanner is to buy one.
And even then, a 1095 in some areas will outperform a HPxx, and the HPxx will be better in others. There is NO single best, all the time, scanner that performs the same for everyone across the country.
The demo I saw had it in a bracket, and the guides say it's included, so I would think yes.

This compares more to the HomePatrol-1/2, not the BCD436HP/BCD535HP which are much more technical (and higher-featured) products.
Ship from where?... just heard 1095 won't ship till June 17th...
