What is the price of upgrading my BCD996P2 to receive DMR?

One way is to look at your "my uniden" account after log in if you registered the 996. You should see the upgrade options. I just paid $60.

I’ve been hearing $80-$85. $60 is a lot better.

That price depends on if you do it yourself or pay to have it done.

Those higher prices are through dealers, which there is no need to have a dealer do the upgrade.

Just takes a few minutes to purchase the key at my.uniden.com, and enter it into the menu system in the scanner.

As of now, DMR = $60
NXDN = $50
ProVoice = $49.99

While it sounds as if you want the DMR upgrade, do you want or need the NXDN & ProVoice as well? Unless you have a system in your area that is still using ProVoice, and you can confirm that are not changing the system in the near future, I'd skip the ProVoice. The manufacturer no longer supports that format, and no new systems will be built. Most all of the agencies in my area that previously used EDACS (ProVoice is an option on an EDACS system, and EDACS is what is really going away) have switched to P25 (digital) Phase II, with a couple that went only to Phase I. The one ProVoice system here in DFW was DFW Airport, and they have switched to a new P25 Phase II system.
