All,

I'm trying to figure out how to program a KPC-3+ to beacon multiple objects. My local club has 2 repeaters (2 tx/rx sites, 1 of which has 2 remote receive sites). I would like to have our 2 digipeaters automatically beacon the following:

1 Object name: 147.255+N
Object comment: 147.255MHz T162 +060
Object position: 3750.54N 07534.29W

2 Object name: 147.255+C
Object comment: 147.255MHz T156 +060
Object position: 3743.23N 07540.22W

3 Object name: 147.255+S
Object comment: 147.255MHz T147 +060
Object position: 3736.18N 07550.52 W

4 Object name: 147.345+
Object comment: 147.345MHz T156 +060
Object position: 3721.56N 07556.49W

I have looked at the KPC-3+ and noticed the BLT, BTEXT, LT, and LTP fields. There are 4 BLT, LT and LTP lines but only 1 BTEXT line. I currently have the BLT set for 0, LT 1-4 set for objects 1-4 and LTP set as defaulted.

Any help figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming that you want the thing to 'beacon', or place an icon/symbol on a map display for each of those 'spots'. If so, then changing the location in the 'beacon' information would do that. Nothing is transmitted -from- those positions, they are only received and displayed by the receiving software. I can't answer your question, I don't know anything about the programming of a KPC3. I sort of doubt if that changing of the position information can be automated, probably have to do it manually? That sort of defeats the purpose I would think.

You'll need to set up the four LTEXT entries with the objects you want. BLT then sets the beacon timing for each of the four LTs.

Bob Bruninga WB4APR has the set-up information for KPC3 digipeaters on his web site, though it's hard to find:

http://www.aprs.org/kpc3/kpc3+WIDEn.txt

NWAPRS also has some good digipeater configuration info on their web site:

Have you met Jason KE4NYV? He lives near you in Greenbackville. When he's not at NASA Wallops he produces APRS hardware. I'm certain he can help you with your settings.

One question: +060? I'm sure you mean +600. I don't think you need to even say that much as the output freq indicates a "+" offset. All repeaters above 147.195 are that way. It's a good idea you are including the remote rx sites for K4BW for your objects.

you could run ui view on a pc and have that send out the local objects, i send out the club house and local hospitals which is then digipeated by the kpc-3 on the hill
