Hearing automated fire & ems dispatch being tested on TG's 5023 & 5024 in Bladen County. Does anyone have any insight on when this will go live ?

Not sure if this is a Viper question or Uniden SDS100 question, so will cross post.

Is there anyway to listen to my local county TG while travelling throughout the state with a SDS100 and GPS?

Let's try to figure out what you are asking. You can set up a feed to monitor online when you are traveling, but you can not monitor your county traffic if outside your general area using your scanner.

As has been asked an answered, a statewide system like VIPER doesn't carry all traffic on all sites, with the exceptions of some statewide TGs, if a unit isn't affiliated with the tower/site the traffic is not able to be heard.

Thanks. That answers my question. I didn't think I would be able to, but was just asking.

Watching several local sites near me using pro96com and it looks like they haven't turned off phase 1 and are running phase 1 and 2 both. I am copying traffic on one of my WS1040 scanners on VIPER . The phase 1 shows up as 00-0015 851.10 and the phase 2 show up as 02-0014 851.10 as an example. In case anyone else is watching a site close to you. Everything else is working normally as usual. So you might still try a old scanner and see how long it will pick up traffic until phase 1 gets turned off. Fun watching as this progression happens.

Down here in New Bern, everything still is Phase 1. Is there an order that they are changing things over? Is it by site or TG?

On the NCSHP Training Center tower it is a combination of Phase 1 & 2, with several voice channels displaying TDMA but mostly for SHP VIPER Techs and Wake Med Ground dispatch so far. Using DSD+ to monitor.

July 1st is here and no one's head has exploded yet... I'm surprised. Please allow a few days of monitoring before submitting TDMA updates for TGs. I can provide a little hint that anything you find moving forward (if provisioned following 7/1/25) will be TDMA only. Make sure you see consistent TDMA usage before submitting an update. As Marshall mentioned, all talkgroups will be DDM for the foreseeable future, so there is still a chance that some channels will roll back to FDMA if a different shift is working every few days.

The RRDB is a best effort resource, so things don't have to be perfect, but I'm trying to avoid blanket updates like we saw with narrowbanding in 2013 when people were pushing for updates based on a deadline and not real world monitoring.

Does something need to happen for a TG/radio to switch from FDMA to TDMA, or is it all automatic? Just curious why some are showing and others aren't.

A talkgroup mode is all based on capabilities. The current configuration for the system is that TDMA is the default mode for all talkgroups. If an FDMA only radio affiliates to a channel (and DDM is enabled), then the talkgroup will downgrade to support them. So even if a TG has 1000 radios that are TDMA capable across the state, all it takes is one FDMA radio to bring the channel down for everyone. FDMA/TDMA is systemwide setting, so there is never a chance where a talkgroup is TDMA on one site but not on another. Think least common denominator. Radios may not be capable of TDMA, or they can be TDMA capable but not programmed right (improper bandplan).
