If they were a bastion of right-wing propaganda, would you be advocating so hard for it to be shut down? This is the issue I have with politics. No matter the party, it seems that they want to silence opposing views. The left trying to shut down conservative radio while the right tries to shut down CPB. The best part is then both sides start screaming censorship. I guess hipocriscy is prevelant on both sides and neither acknowledges their own.
I haven't heard cries from the left to shut down radical right wing radio, but I have heard mentions of holding the broadcasters responsible for broadcasting lies.
Or alternative facts as they call them. The idea of responsibility is what got Fox to testify that no reasonable person would assume their "news" department was being truthful in their broadcasts. Now candidates can spew lies like "they're eating the pets" and get elected because there's no need to worry about being responsible for them or the broadcasters.
Newspapers used to separate the news and opinion pieces, and so did broadcasting for a while when integrity was more important.
Radio Free Europe was shut down today, inspite of the lack of the Congressional action required to do this legally. This fits in with the restrictions on access for legitimate media, the silencing of VOA as well as the isolationist policies coming out of Washington. With all the money we're going to save here we'll be able to bail out some of the farmers who had contracts to grow food for USAID that got cancelled.
