WCSO frequency is dead, gone digital / slers? help

Hi lin263, I requested you to add me on FB today, 1/28/11.

Anyway, I have an older scanner and my sister has a bearcat and the WCSO dispatch has been dead for a while. Nothing but weird static on 460.15000. I can only get EMS.

I was wondering what you learned, if they went digital, switched to SLERS?

I was going to buy a new hand held but like you couldn't get a straight answer on what they are using now. Radio Shack (in Chipley) also told me lots have people came in and they don't carry anything that will pick up WCSO now. (that was just a couple weeks ago).

Also, I went through the FCC database, can someone tell what type of system is being used from looking at the FCC data? Be nice to be sure to have a scanner that will receive other agencies before spending the $$.

Walton County has been planning this for awhile. The South Fire Dist is already on it. Funny how all these departments plan on moving over but it takes them years to do so. I though the system was ready for use. Wait till all of Okaloosa and Walton move over too it. I've been told the system wasn't originally designed to handle all the traffic.

I will find you Gigawatt. I didnt see a request, Im sorry.

Chipley is still coming in just fine. I hear Sheriff, Police, Fire and Med. no outside antenna. Jackson County comes in real clear. Sometimes I can get Fort Walton, but since I have a hand held, I have to move it around. Chipley is a busy little town:)

Both visits to Radio Shack told me I couldnt get Washington County any more. I dont know if they really think that is true or what!! I ordered the RadioShack iSCAN TRUNKING SCANNER. I thought there was a number on the box, but I dont see it. It comes with a connector so you can plug it in to your computer. Not sure why, but ok:). I use rechargeable batteries. Seems like it needs battery change in about 12 hours. The guys here were so so nice to me and helped me step by step.

Lin. The IScan is a 107. Are you using the antenna that come with the radio. If so, you may get better reception with another better antenna. something to think about.
