Anyone remember when news anchors presented the news in a neutral manner so as not to influence the viewers in any way, pro or con? Today it's all about influencers! Who yells the loudest, who gets the maddest, or in the case of FOX National News, who's the hottest! (not saying that wold influence me, but I might be inclined to watch them).

OK, I'm done. As you can tell I O.D.'ed on too much coffee, I'll go now.:sleep:

Yeah--I remember when I was young every news channel would present a different take on the news. More recently not only does one TV news channel sound like a clone of every other news source out there, they even present news stories in the same sequence! No imagination being used at all--like they're all a bunch of zombies...

Only problem is they can edit the information and reduce transparency.

That's absolutely correct. There is no requirement they share any info with you. Most public safety social media is used for very specific reasons to provide information to the public. The city I'm in is still running VHF analog, but the social media info is used to reach -w-a-y- more people that would ever be listening to a scanner here. Usually it's telling you to stay away from a specific area due to traffic accident, or trying to find a lost/missing person.
They will be going fully encrypted in the near future, so social media is what you have.
