No secrecy I already mentioned I am using vlc on my iPhone and the vpn gets me on the network..

My apologies, I did see that earlier. Well, it is not available in either the US or Canadian Apple iTunes Store :(. I am surprised there aren't more apps in the store that support RTSP and then the specific version the Scanner is outputting. RTSP is a complex protocol so it is likely not just the audio stream is being sent as experienced by the test control app.

Thank you

WAY off topic, get rid of XP, Windows 7 is going bye bye in a few years, Windows 8 is a goner, v 10 is Microsoft's salvation, last ditch effort to get it right, but not to add fuel to the off topic stuff here, if a discussion about the inability of an end users computer to be patched, updated, correct, I'd highly suggest another thread, or even maybe different forum?
Just saying

Also too I still get updates from various parts of Windows XP so they may not be updating the core software, but they are updating the malicious software protection and other things like that it goes along with Windows XP.

I seriously urge you to consider Windows 8.1 or at least Windows 7. Windows XP is VERY vulnerable to attack, and no, antimalware, antivirus etc. are not a panacea. XP is just inherently insecure. Windwos Vista introduced a host of new mechanisms to protect the OS at least from being easily broken. 8.1 is MUCH better yet. And for the haters, you DO NOT have to use the Modern UI in 8.1 .. .you can simply live in the DESKTOP like I do and it looks and feels just like Windows 7.

I don't think that my laptop will handle windows 8. I did have a laptop and still have here a laptop that had windows 7 on it, but the display went south and I haven't been able to afford to get it repaired.

So, I'm stuck with this laptop that's got Windows XP on it.

I haven't worked in 10 years man; It's a sad thing to say about living in the Motor City of Detroit; but I haven't worked in 10 years. so I don't have the money in the bank to just go buy something. [emoji20]

Not you, the other troll! [emoji12] [emoji57]

I didn't take anything that you said to me as disrespectful I was referring to someone else. If you read above here you'll see what I'm talking about.

Well, I did it once again. [emoji44]

I went and checked....[emoji102]

I'm not running a laptop with Windows XP. I'm running a laptop with Windows Vista Home Service Pack 2. [emoji21]

So please, correct that error. I don't know what made me think I was running Windows XP. But, I'm running Windows Vista service pack 2.

Oopsie. [emoji10]

can someone step me through the process of getting VLC to stream from my home network to my android phone! I have the dongle connected and working! VLC is fine on my laptop, but can't make it stream audio to my phone.

ok, all of the sudden it's streaming to my phone! now will it work away from my house?

YEs, either by PORT FORWARDING your dongle's IP to The Internet or using a VPN server inside your home network and connecting to [it] from your device.

No, actually, it no longer does. It is a time bomb now...

Windows XP support has ended - Microsoft Windows

I seriously urge you to consider Windows 8.1 or at least Windows 7. Windows XP is VERY vulnerable to attack, and no, anti-malware, anti-virus etc. are not a panacea. XP is just inherently insecure. How is a Win XP machine going to get attacked if it doesn't browse the Internet? My two XP machines don't browse the Internet, and they are both doing useful service.

Oh, and despite dire warnings from Microsoft (they have their own motives), Microsoft is still providing regular updates, INCLUDING VIRUS UPDATES to their own anti-virus/malware software for Windows XP.

Although I use Windows 7 for regular stuff, you can keep almost any OS free of viruses if you are careful what you do with it.
