I generally use my WS1040 for conventional scanning. However, I am wanting to program trunked systems. I do not understand what a site is. Could someone enlighten me? How do I know which site to program? Can any talkgroup be programmed to any site? I am using arc500 as my programming software. Thank you!

Think of a "Site" as a transmitter location. Program the sites you are able to receive from your location.

Usually, any talk group may show up on any site, depending where the particular radios are located. The radios "affiliate" with sites as they come into range.

So basically, I choose whichever is the closest to my current location, and any talkgroup and program to any site?

I use ARC500 also. If you have any problems, attach your programming file and I will check it out for you.

zarmril,
This site, "easier to read... manual" is a good reference also, especially for object oriented memory and trunk systems.
