The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am new to the digital side of the radios. I am trying to program it to work with a security/medical team I work with at an event. They use titan radios the tr4xi to be specific. I have pulled the programming from one of there radios and I have entered it into the btech radio with the software on my computer but I can not get any audio. I do get a signal when I key up but thats it. Any chance someone can help me figure this out I am lost. Thank you.

Welcome to the RR forums! I and others here would strongly advise against using a Baofeng in a life safety situation. Talk to whoever is in charge of providing radios for your event and see if they'll issue you one of their radios.

Those radios aren't Baofengs. They are made by Anytone. They have Part 90 certification.

any chance someone can help me figure this out either way? I have the saved file from the titan radio and the program for that radio is free from them to look at it. then someone help me figure out what i am doing wrong. only thing is I have a feeling I need to buy one of those radios to test it and make sure its working. I only do this event once a year.

I am wondering, do you have an amateur license with a DMR (7-digit number)? If not, this is the reason why.

You might need to add the talk group(s) to a RX Group list. Check the CPS to see if it has one.

Let's assume for a moment that the OP is an amateur radio operator and has a DMR ID. Let's also assume that the OP programmed his radio using his amateur radio DMR ID. Would that preclude the radio from being able to communicate with the users of these Titan radios in Part 90 service?

Of course, the easiest solution is for the OP to use the radio that the security/medical team issues to him at the event and stop trying to use his own radio on their system.

I did a quick search of the Titan radio and while it says that "psuedo trunking is coming soon". I'll go out on a limb and guess that it isn't in play so that leaves simplex or repeater use. The OP states that he "pulled programming from the Titan and entered it into the BTech". More detail on that would be nice. Was some type of importing and exporting into codeplugs with a program involved or was it read, noted and entered by hand into the BTech. I'm thinking that screenshots of the two codeplugs might shed some light on to what is going on.

Assuming we had more information we could probably answer this. If they're operating simplex at the event then no, I wouldn't think it would preclude them working together AS LONG as they're programmed correctly. We use a combination of work and ham IDs occasionally using simplex at events. Frankly doesn't even need to be in the contact list. Just shows a number rather than a name or ham callsign.

I entered it manually into the btech programming software. I can do screenshots if that will help.

From both radios yes that will help.

But I guess not if you're gonna do this. Here's the thing, this is a public forum and as such there are a multitude of opinions. There are folks here that will help you beyond what's been posted here, however remember a lot of people here program radios for their day jobs and fight with people adding unauthorized radios day in and day out. We have no idea what organization this is, if you even have permission to use their programming in a radio of your own or pertinent other information. Now at least you've answered the question about repeater or simplex and that helps. If you're sitting one radio next to the other one to test and NOT in repeater range (again we can't read minds) then obviously they're not going to talk to each other. When people come here for help, the more information you can provide the better the chance of getting the help you are looking for. If it's a "secret" then ya you're probably out of luck. It's hard to help people that don't provide the info. Help us help you. Good luck.

It's not about touching a nerve, it is about maintaining a site that follows federal laws and regulations and protecting the safety of other security/medical professionals. The regulations are there for a reason. Sorry you feel they aren't important or that people on the site are trying to give you a difficult time but in reality they are protecting the site's reputation and the overall safety of having improperly programmed radios being used on a licensed system they do not have written authorization to use.

Ill provide what I can to try and figure this out. I have permission to do this from them. I've been working with them for 4 years now. I was just trying to use my radio because I bought it to learn on and I feel better if I break my own stuff over someone else's. Im in mud and water amd this radio claims to be waterproof so I wanted to use it

So what do I need to provide to get help? I have permission to do this from them they were standing right there when I was trying to do this. I am not trying to break any laws or anything and if I am then I wont continue with what im doing. I was just trying to use my own radio I have. I dont like using others stuff if I have something that could do the same thing already. But if this isnt aloud then we can just delete the post and move on.

I say get us the info and let's see what you have going on. Some screen shots may help, or some of the guys may have software to read the actual CPS software (I don't for the Btech or the titan) but someone might. I don't think you personally are trying to do anything wrong but, you'd be amazed at some of what we see here. (or even in real life at times).

Since this is thru a repeater it's a little more self evident why it may not be working but post up the screen shots and let us see what's going on and if we can help.
