• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I think either way im gonna have to find and buy this radio so I can test it till I get it figured out but then I have that radio but the btech is waterproof so I do like that better. Either way ill probably have both radios. Plus hopefully have this issue figured out and learned something.

Buying a Titan radio won't necessarily help you to hook up to the other ones. If it's a Talkgroup issue that's causing your problem, you need to discover which talkgroup ID the other radios are using for the "Call 1" talkgroup. It could be any random number that the person who programmed their radios has chosen. Buying a new radio won't help to solve that issue.

Wouldn't I be able to just upload the file I downloaded from the radio to the Titan radio I buy? Wouldn't that program it to be just like the original radio?

Ok ill look into this but I don't have a titan radio to test it out with is the only problem.
If you have the software and plug out of the titan radios it's in there. You don't physically need the radio to ascertain the talk group information.

Where are you setting the talk group numbers? I I think in the titan it's "TX contact name". There should be a contact list somewhere where that is a number and then you assign that a name? I can';t help but think this is a talk group malfunction somehow since you're seeing carrier and not hearing

Is this what your talking about?

Yes, now you need to find that in the Btech and use TG# 88 (apparently from your photo) and then give it a name. the name doesn't really matter its the number that makes the difference. To avoid confusion I'd name them the same or very very similar.

And as you can see it's "group call"...not a private call. In your Btech it's "contact". Make sure that is 88 in the contact list.

No. that is what identifies your radio to others. If that number isn't in their list the number itself is I'll just come up.
Ok thanks just wanted to make sure I did the right one. So hopefully we got it figured out and it will work now

IF, there is no kind of encryption involved, and IF the transmit and receive frequencies are correct, and IF you have the color code, time slot, and that talk group thing straightened out, then they'll talk to each other. but in DMR ALL of that needs to be 100% spot on without exception for it to work properly. Don't forget to report back and let us know!

Thanks ill find out soon. I ordered a titan tr4xi radio off ebay. I talked to titan radio customer service today after work they are willing to help me figure it out also but I need a radio to talk to so I can confirm it works. So radio should be here by next Wednesday and I can put the program i got from the original radio on the radio when it gets here and test it out. Either way ill have at least 1 radio that should work for the events I do with these people. Thanks for the help and ill let you know if it works or not.
