Do you know the NAC code when Parkersburg PD does use digital?
I wonder if the IRP tower locations have something to do with them not using the IRP?
Since both towers are like 20 + miles away from the city center....hmmmm

Not sure on the NAC for Parkersburg PD, but the fire was 190. That could be a possibility since the towers are so far away. I noticed that in Vienna I was getting a good signal from the Parkersburg Site but even in Mineral Wells and in Parkersburg it wasn't that strong at all.

Much appreciated Chad. At one time we had a member here on RR that belonged to an emergency service agency in wood county. Maybe he or she could chime in on the lack of IRP signal coverage in the downtown area of Parkersburg.

Your very welcome Moto anytime. Granted even though I was using my Pro 106 with the stock duck inside the car I just thought that I should be getting a better signal from that site, especially since I was right in the middle of downtown for most of the day.

Also once I passed the Rockport exit on I77, I believe, I completely lost the Parkersburg Site altogether but I did find it rather strange to not get a hit on anything within a 6 hr period up there at all.

I would guess and that PPD and PFD would have to construct a third tower in the town center to get proper coverage IF they ever decide to switch to the IRP.

Do you know if the WVSP in Parkersburg are 100% IRP yet or still a LB mix?

I'm not sure on that one. I would guess that they are still on lowband but I'm not 100% sure. I was disappointed because I didn't get not one TG hit from the IRP while I was up there.

The Dead Zone

I hear ya, They need to rename Parkersburg city ":The Dead Zone".....Parkersburg is probably the only larger city in WV not on the IRP yet...I really thought the IRP design committee would have constructed a tower very close to downtown Parkersburg considering the size of the county to get 100% trunked P25 UHF coverage throughout.

Sigh, lest I forget sometimes we do live in WV which is 25 years behind the other 49 states in overall progress......LMAO

LOL I know exactly what you mean. The Webster Site was supposed to go online in May and it still hasn't yet. So until the state gets either that site or the Cottle Site online I can't monitor the IRP from home. Guess I'll have to take the 20 mile drive to Webster Springs just to make sure.

Did anybody hear the traffic on the ME's #2 and #5 today? They said that they had recovered 2 female bodies somewhere. They were both in the same grave, there was a possible 3rd but not confirmed.

The coverage in Parkersburg/Vienna is good from both the Montgomery Hill tower and the Rockport tower. I don't believe coverage is the issue for them remaining with their legacy systems.

WVSP Parkersburg is still all low band as far as I know.

For someone in the Northern panhandle, do you know what county 22 is?

New, unidentified TG-1601 monitored at 06:30AM today off the Keyser ( Mineral County ) tower. I suspect it is Mineral county Fire/EMS...Not enough chatter to positively identify, they were taking about a weekend project on Knobly Road in Mineral county.

I'm in Grafton and doing some monitoring nothing new to add except that my nephew tells me the Taylor county IRP site should come online and begin testing in the next 2-3 weeks. The tower is just north of town on Rt 119. They have quite a few channels designated for the county.

Hey anyone know how to put in a wildcard for a 396xt like I have for my pro 106? I'd like for it to find new talkgroups when I feel like using my son's uniden. BTW I been listening to Nicholas dispatch alot all afternoon, very busy today.
