453.5125 is listed for the control channel, "BUT" it may not be active yet, or the other frequencies could be used, I'll list them for you. These are Ohio Co tower. 108.
453.1750, 453.3125, 453.3375, 453.4375, 453.6000, 460.1375, 460.4500. Best program them all and every now and again you will have to go thru them manualy, "Because the scanner will not stop on the control channel in "scan" When you do find the control channel and it's active(noisy) that channel and the alternate control channel will be the only two frequencies you will need in the PRO96 scanner,When the control channel broadcasts it tells your PRO96 scanner which voice channel to go to, don't even have to have it programed into your scanner. Now the BC scanner you have will have to be programed differently.
With the PC cable and the PRO96COM software that you can download for free off the front page of Radio Reference site here in the downloads section. With the cable and software you will beable to log activitys off the local tower there in Ohio Co. Heres the link to PRO96COM

First program in all the frequencys for your tower and set each channel mode to "MO"(motorola) they are using more than one type of radios in this system, It don't make a difference, it's still set to "MO"
OK here we go! While in manuel in the bank you programed your Control channels in, press the "MODE KEY" till it says "MO" then Press "PGM" then "TRUNK" then "FUNCTION" then "2" now your screen is for table settings. It's blinking on "B" enter in 453.02500 and hit "ENTER". Now the scanner is blinking on "O" enter in 8192 and hit "ENTER". Now the scanner is blinking on "S" enter in 12.5 and hit "ENTER" Don't worry what the scanner says now, but hit "MANUAL" again. Now hit "PGM" then "TRUNK" then "FUNCTION" then "4"
This screen says "use up/down keys to set" So press the up or down arrow key untill you have this "9600 CC MODE TABLE" then hit "ENTER. Now hit "SCAN" You should now be set to recieve transmissions from your tower. Let me know how this works for you and if your having problems we can work on it. Let us on the WV forum know whats being heard there. I'll add here that you should be in the "open mode" which is a + sign under the bank number whie it's scanning, you will recieve all "TALK GROUPS". To save these talk groups into your scanner- While the radio is stopped on a transmission hit "TRUNK" this will auto save it to the scanners talk group banks. OK I hope this will help, I don't know if you have a PC cable or if your using WIN96 By Don Starr (30) day free trial and also the PRO96COM off the downloads page here on R.R. There all great tools to make programing easier. Oh BTW welcome to the Radio Reference web site!

Lots of activity on TG 903 again today. 2 guys talking about Motorola and Johnson Radios and the coveage they get. One said he came from somewhere in VA and picked up signal pretty good and the other said he came in from DC on I-81 and had a good signal most all of the way in. Also when running PRO96COM, on a couple of towers I see a Tower 109 affiliated with them, it's not listed in the database. Anyone know anything about this tower?

Was there a call sign (lettering) with the affiliated tower, if so you could run it in the data base and get the location from that. I haven't seen a tower 109 my self, but you got me wondering.

No call sign. Here is the data from my PRO96COM scan from 01/25/06 at about 9:40 in the morning. The file is on another computer but I wrote it down.

This is from Tower 101(Clarksburg):

-Neighbors
#format: Tower ID, Tower ID Hex, Sys ID, Channel, Frequency, Tower name

103, "T0103", "170", "02-0041", "453.5375", ""
104, "T0104", "170", "02-0008", "453.1250", ""
105, "T0105", "170", "02-0029", "453.3875", ""
109, "T0109", "170", "02-0563", "460.0625", ""

Looked up the frequency in the database and it is a Charleston CC. It was also present in a Tower 105(Salem) log, but not in a Tower 104(Idamay) log. Seems a little strange to me. When I am able to retrieve the files from my other computer I will post them on PRO96COM.

109, "T0109", "170", "02-0563", "460.0625", "" Could be that Charleston is fully up and running, thus is now tower 109 and tower1002 is no longer reporting. Extrapolated; tower 1003 (Huntington) may soon be reporting as tower 110.

My 2 cents worth.

The towers with the 100* numbers in the RR DB are just place holders. The other 10* numbers are the actual tower/site numbers

The current agenda of the Turnpike Commission meeting contains this item:

"4. NECESSARY UPGRADE OF TURNPIKE’S RADIO SYSTEM TO UHF (DIGITAL) IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH INTEROPERABILITY REQUIREMENTS PER GOVERNOR’S EXECUTIVE ORDER"

I've been squirreling a few bucks away looking forward to the new BCD996T, but I wonder if there will be anything left to monitor by the end of Phase 11 of the WVIR system. Anyone truly in-the-know care to shed some light on whether all of the talkgroups will eventually be encrypted? I'd hate to shell out $600 for something to listen to mall security.

Anyone hearing communications on TG 141? I picked it up for a couple of minutes today on the Clarksburg tower. It seemed to be some sort of another private channel for police. It was either Nutter Fort or Bridgeport Police I was hearing I think.

moochie, I only pick up the one tower N. mountian. Our traffic is mostly talk group 08021 which is an encrypted channel and a very little usage of the med channel.

Getting alot of new traffic in the last couple days, but can any one else tell me if they too are getting very broken and bad signals? I'am thinking that it is the new radios being programed.
